Info zu Who Cares?

Wer die Veröffentlichungen von Fon aufmerksam verfolgt (und das lohnt sich ja bekanntlich für jeden Freund audiophiler Aufnahmen), der wird sich sicher noch an „I Could Write A Book“ erinnern. Der amerikanische Saxofonist Scott Hamilton und der italienische Pianist Andrea Pozza spielten da im Duett herrlich swingende Jazz-Standards, die von Fone-Chef Giulio Cesare Ricci ohne Overdubs und nachträgliche Bearbeitung rein analog in perfekter Mikrofonierung eingefangen wurden.

Bei den Aufnahmesessions in einem alten Hotel in der Nähe von Florenz entstand aber offenbar mehr als genug Material für nur eine Platte, und so folgt jetzt mit „Who Cares?“ der zweite Streich: Noch einmal acht swingende Klassiker des Great American Songbook, von Pozza und Hamilton mit relaxter Grundhaltung und viel Spielfreude vorgetragen.

Genau wie den Vorgänger gibt es auch „Who Cares?“ sowohl als HighResAudio als auch als SACD. Das lohnt sich, denn das perfekte und eng vernetzte Miteinander dieser beiden Musiker nimmt einen so gefangen, dass man sich locker noch einige weitere Platten dieses Duos anhören könnte. Absolut gelungen!

Scott Hamilton
was born in 1954, in Providence, Rhode Island. During his early childhood he heard a lot of jazz through his father’s extensive record collection, and became acquainted with the jazz greats. He tried out several instruments, including drums at about the age of five, piano at six and mouth-organ. He had some clarinet lessons when he was about eight years of age, but that was the only formal music tuition he has ever had. Even at that age he was attracted to the sound of Johnny Hodges, but it was not until he was about sixteen that he started playing the saxophone seriously. From his playing mainly blues on mouth organ, his little band gradually became more of a jazz band.

Andrea Pozza
debut at age 13 in a historic jazz club Genoa. From that moment on, his career is now more than thirty years, has led him to perform in Italy and abroad with real "sacred cows" of the likes of Harry "Sweet" Edison, Bobby Durham, Chet Baker, Al Grey , Scott Hamilton, George Coleman, Charlie Mariano, Lee Konitz, Sal Nistico, Massimo Urbani, Luciano Milanese and many more.
