Digitally remastered of the Los Angeles-born Soul vocalist. Produced by Chuck Jackson (of the production team of Jackson & Yancy, responsible for Natalie Cole's many hits), Going for the Glow featured several stellar compositions like the US Top 30 R&B hit, the funky, dance-flavored 'Scuse Me, While I Fall in Love,' written by a then-emerging solo star Luther Vandross and longtime friend, singer/songwriter David Lasley; and two compositions - the infectious title track and 'It's Something' (later recorded by Lalah Hathaway) from stellar tunesmith and artist in her own right, Brenda Russell. Top L.A. players on the sessions included Patrice Rushen, Nathan East, Paul Jackson Jr.. and Ndugu Chancler.

"Enlisting the services of Chuck Jackson, Capitol upped the production ante for Washington's sophomore outing, with more commercially successful results. Shortly before Luther Vandross' breakout as a solo artist, "'Scuse Me, While I Fall in Love" from this set became a Top 30 R&B hit. Vandross co-wrote the funky, snazzy tune. Besides that catchy ditty, Going for the Glow also shines with the mellow "It's Something" (penned by David Foster and Brenda Russell and later made an R&B hit by Lalah Hathaway), the kinetic "Nine to Five (Come Alive)," and the inspiring title track (also penned by Russell). Though not quite as unique as its predecessor, Going for the Glow is more consistent in its arrangements and overall flow. "Listening back to Donna Washington’s sophomore album, Going For The Glow thirty-two years after its release, it’s quite incredible that it wasn’t a huge commercial success. Donna was a hugely talented vocalist. Whether it was ballads, dance tracks or uptempo songs, Donna was equally comfortable. Similarly, Donna could deliver soulful, funky or dance tracks. She truly was a versatile vocalist. So, it’s no wonder when Cecil Hale at Capitol Records signed Donna, that he thought she’d be the next Natalie Cole. It certainly wasn’t talent Donna Washington lacked. Sadly, Donna’s career only lasted three albums. After Going For The Glow, Donna Washington only released one more album, 1982s Just For You.
