Repertoire & Entdeckung: Die zweite Veröffentlichung auf dem Label des Cleveland Orchestra mit seinem Chefdirigenten Franz Welser-Möst widmet sich zwei Wiener Komponisten. Während Schuberts Sinfonie C-Dur D 944 sich seit ihrer posthumen Uraufführung 1839 durch Mendelssohn einen festen Platz im Repertoire erobert hat, steht dies für viele Werke von Ernst Krenek (1900–1991) leider noch aus. Sein Orchesterwerk static and ecstatic op. 214 entstand 1971 für Paul Sacher und sein Basler Kammerorchester, denen zahlreiche Meisterwerke der Klassischen Moderne zu verdanken sind. Die fantastische Aufnahme aus Cleveland macht deutlich, dass Krenek zu den Großen der Klassischen Moderne zählt.
