Info zu The Seasons

Virtuoso sonatas, tarantellas and chaconnes from seventeenth-century Italy are performed here with contagious energy by the young ensemble PRISMA, a laureate of the emerging programme. The four musicians accompany this colourful programme of variations on the theme of the seasons with their own improvisations.

The four winds, sons of Aurora and Astreos, bring the different characters into music: Zefiro the sweet wind of spring, Boreas the winter's cold, Notos the heat and tempest of summertime, and Euros the thunderstorms of autumn. PRISMA explores those traits of the four winds in Italian music of the 17th century with its virtuoso sonatas by Uccellini, Fontana or Turini, as well as the Renaissance standards like the Canario or the Ciaccona from which the group has collected and put together the best variations by different composers, as well as their own versions.

PRISMA
vereint vier junge Musiker in gemeinsamer Suche nach besonders ausdrucksstarker, bizarrer, farbenfroher Musik des 16. und 17. Jahrhunderts. Die „sehr lebendige Interpretationskunst im Verein mit technischer Perfektion und Tonschönheit lässt jede Phrase wirken, als werde sie gerade erdacht“, schreibt das Göttinger Tageblatt über ein Konzert des Quartetts in der Festspielreihe.

Im Mai 2015 gewinnt PRISMA den 1. Preis beim Internationalen Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber Wettbewerb in Österreich; für das Jahr 2016 wird das Ensemble in die Auswahl des Förderprogramms „Emerging European Ensembles“ des Centre Culturel d'Ambronay (F) aufgenommen. Es folgen Konzerteinladungen zur Alte-Musik-Reihe des Westdeutschen Rundfunks, zur Reihe Historischer Musik der Händel-Festspiele Göttingen, zum Biber-Festival Wien und zu Festivalresidenzen in Riga, Ambronay, Bukarest und Pavia.

Auf der Bühne erzählt PRISMA die Musik, wie man eine Geschichte erzählt: sie sprechen instrumental, unterhalten sich, streiten und versöhnen sich, um die Ausdruckskraft der Musik direkt zu übertragen: Der Notentext wird, wie der Text eines Schauspielers, zum Skript musikalischer Geschichten, die den Zuhörer und Zuschauer auf eine Reise durch dieses affektvolle Repertoire einladen.
