Intense live recording! The masterpiece from the early baroque resounds in a big cathedral with resonance of 7 seconds.

Contraponto, one of the most well-known early music ensembles in Japan, celebrated their tenth anniversary in their twentieth regular concert at Sekiguchi Catholic Church St. Maria Cathedral, Tokyo. And the concert is now available as a live footage. Because of the difficulty, “Vespro della Beata Vergine” by Claudio Monteverdi is rare to be seen as a live CD even at overseas. But here it is as a live recording. Performed in an authentic way to imitate the style of Monteverdi’s era, over two hours of performance including the organ’s introduction and postludium, antifina by Gregorian chant, and prayer was fully recorded.
