Info zu Prelude to Now
Trumpeter and composer Ernesto Montenegro releases his debut album, "Prelude to Now".
With his fresh perspective on African-American jazz, Ernesto uniquely connects the classical jazz tradition with contemporary crossovers. His compositions are influenced by greats like Art Blakey, Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw, and Wayne Shorter, but you can also hear the sounds of modern musicians like Reinier Baas, Bob Mintzer, and Dick Oatts in Ernesto's playing. Surprising jazz, brimming with tranquil moments and swinging southern passion!
"is the culmination of a creative process I've undergone over the past four years. All the songs reflect powerful moments in my life – memories of Gran Canaria and Amsterdam, with contrasts between joy and melancholy." (Ernesto Montenegro)
Ernesto and his quintet remain true to post-bebop, but add a touch of 2025 flair.
