In einer Welt, in der es mehr denn je auf Qualität statt auf Quantität ankommt und nur das Außergewöhnliche tatsächlich Aussicht auf Bestand hat, haben EUREKA die einzig richtige Entscheidung getroffen: Fünf Jahre hat sich Gründer und Mastermind Frank Bossert Zeit gelassen, um mit Weitsicht und Akribie seinen musikalischen Visionen zu folgen. Jetzt präsentiert er Great Escapes, ein Album, das sich von seinem direkten Vorgänger Shackleton's Voyage (2009) spürbar unterscheidet, gleichzeitig aber dieselbe künstlerische DNA in sich trägt wie alle bisherigen vier Studioalben der Band. Es sind Bosserts ausgefeilte Kompositionen sowie seine bemerkenswerten Fähigkeiten als Gitarrist, Bassist und Keyboarder, die den EUREKA-Sound generell bestimmen und alle Scheiben miteinander verbinden. Und es ist sein Mut, zum ersten Mal in seiner Laufbahn ganz alleine für den Leadgesang verantwortlich zu sein, der das Album auf besondere Weise prägt. Wer auf Bands wie Rush, Pink Floyd, Marillion oder Yes steht, wird mit dem Progrock internationaler Prägung made by EUREKA garantiert seine musikalische Erfüllung finden.

Zumal Bossert auch der neuen Scheibe unverkennbar seinen eigenen künstlerischen Stempel aufdrückt, anstatt lediglich Vorbilder zu kopieren. ''Ich wollte mein Songwriting in den Vordergrund stellen und nicht die Klischees des Genres'', erklärt er und fügt hinzu: ''Zudem mag ich die Balance zwischen klaren Songstrukturen und einer Portion instrumentalem Mut.'' Dabei beeindruckt insbesondere sein ungemein flüssiges Bass-Spiel als treibende Kraft diverser Songs. Bossert: ''Viele Ideen basieren auf Bass-Riffs. Aber natürlich spielte beim Komponieren auch die Gitarre eine wichtige Rolle.''

Produziert wurde Great Escapes von Bossert in seinem eigenen Studio in Husum, gemischt hat Yogi Lang (RPWL) die Scheibe in den Münchner 'Farm Studios`. Sämtliche Instrumente und Gesänge stammen von Bossert selbst. Als Gastmusiker zu hören: Schlagzeuger Steve Hanson, das Vokal-Trio Kalema, Yogi Lang sowie Sängerin Cathrine Jauer und Gitarrist Odin Hansen.

Mit Great Escapes schreiben EUREKA unverkennbar ein neues Kapitel ihrer Bandhistorie. Für Bossert war das Konzeptalbum Shackleton's Voyage ''eine Art Übergangsprojekt mit allen Stilmitteln und Stilrichtungen, die sich zum Erzählen der Geschichte anboten. Es gab zwar noch Folk-Themen, Soundtrack- und Symphonic-Elemente sowie kammermusikalische Momente, aber eben auch richtige Rocksongs. Mit ihnen habe ich schon damals die Tür zu Great Escapes und seiner rockigeren Ausrichtung aufgestoßen.'' Eine große Tür, die sich mit dem sphärischen Opener 'Stepping Out` öffnet und sich erst nach dem melancholischen Finale 'Solid Ground` dezent wieder schließt. Dazwischen liegen mehr als 45 Minuten purer Genuss. Kein Zweifel: Man muss sie gehört haben!

Eureka
Frank Bossert is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and ever-restless creative spirit from the far north of Germany. Having grown up in Hamburg, he was musically educated in various rock bands gigging clubs like the legendary „Logo“ or „Knust“ in the late 80s.

In the middle of the 90s he started his own project, named „EUREKA”. Under this name Frank has been producing five CDs since 1997. Starting with his self distributed „EUREKA“ entitled debut record, Frank created a sound that mixed Celtic folk with prog rock and symphonic elements.

The second release „The Full Circle“ from 2002 was the first album that established the EUREKA sound in full flavour. The album features five songs and five instrumental tracks that form a unique blend of Celtic, world and ambient sounds. It turned out to be the signature album for EUREKA and brought Frank’s music to worldwide attention.

In 2005 „The Compass Rose” with the collaboration of nearly a dozen musicians was released. Flamenco guitars meet Celtic flutes, medieval drums arrange grooving races and keyboards melt with oriental percussion. „The Compass Rose“ is EUREKA’s most diverse recording and presents soundscapes rarely ever heard before. It gained some well attention in the prog rock press and was presented live in a release concert in front of the castle of Frank’s hometown Husum.

In 2008 after what could be called the „band period“ of EUREKA between 2003-2005 Frank decided to start the production of an album he’d planned since the very first days of 2000. It can be seen as the most exciting project his career has seen so far – "Shackleton's Voyage" is a concept album dealing with Ernest Shackleton's Antarctic voyage on the ship 'Endurance'.

„Shackleton‘s Voyage“ features prominent guest musicians Billy Sherwood (ex-Yes, World Trade, CIRCA:), Troy Donockley (Iona, Nightwish), Yogi Lang (RPWL) and a great artwork/booklet with impressive pictures taken by the Australian photographer Frank Hurley. The album was released in June 2009 distributed by InsideOut/SPV and received glowing reviews all over the world. It‘s been valued as a timeless work of art that pays tribute to the remarkable life of Sir Ernest Shackleton.

In 2010 Frank took a step back and decided to release a retrospective called „Silverware – The Best of EUREKA 1997-2010“. He re-recorded three tracks for the compilation CD and placed an early version of a new track on it as an outlook to what could be expected from EUREKA in the future.

From 2010 on Frank started to work on the new album called „Great Escapes“. It’s the first full blown rock album in the history of EUREKA and it’s the first album on which Frank iss the only lead singer. It is the most personal album he's ever done, featuring tracks like „Stolen Child“ a song about the „Parental Alienation Syndrome“ and the forced alienation from his son, „Animated World“ dealing with the story of a young gunman and „The Big Picture“ a long track staying in seven eight time signature for its entire length.

Frank says: "It took five years to make this album, a real tour de force and I’m very proud of it!"
