The album’s subject matter is familiar territory for the R&B veteran whose music represents many variations of love. “I’ve made a career of really talking about and writing about my ideas in the way that I feel about love and what I hope about love,” KEM tells ABC Audio. “So I’m no stranger to the topic. The subject matter is familiar, but Love Always Wins, particularly at this time.”

He understands this might be a “challenging concept for folks with everything that’s going on in the world.” But he wanted to share what helped him through the “most difficult” and “hardest times” of his life. “What was holding me up through those times was love,” KEM tells ABC Audio.

“The one thing that we all have in common, no matter what our backgrounds are, no question, what our race is, economic, social status, whatever that is…The one thing that we have in common is that somebody loves us and we love somebody else,” he continues. “And at the end of the day, when all else fails, there will always be that.”
