Das lang erwartete sechste Album der norwegischen Prog-Rocker MAGIC PIE ist auf dem Weg.

Wie bei den drei vorherigen Pie-Alben mit Eirikur am Gesang hat Kim die Musik für „Maestro“ komponiert, und Eirikur hat die Texte und die Melodien dazu gemacht. Aber Kim hat seinen Einfluss auf die Melodien, und manchmal hat er einige Teile bereits ausgeschrieben. Eirikur erklärt: Für mich liegt die Essenz unserer Zusammenarbeit in der Tatsache, dass er sich mit Prog auskennt, während mein Haupteinfluss Heavy Metal ist, zusammen mit einem Flirt mit den Beatles und dem „Maestro“ David Bowie. Das schafft etwas Einzigartiges (hoffe ich) und gibt uns einen besonderen Ansatz innerhalb der Prog-Rock-Industrie. Ich habe es sogar geschafft, einen Beatles-Titel in einen unserer Songs einzubauen - haltet Ausschau!

Ein besonderer Willkommensgruß der Band gilt diesmal dem neuen Schlagzeuger Martin Utby, der ihnen mit seinem energiegeladenen Spiel neue Energie verliehen hat. Gemischt von Jacob Holm-Lupo und gemastert von Rich Mouser, der tragischerweise sein Haus und sein Studio bei den heftigen Bränden in der Gegend von Los Angeles vor ein paar Wochen verloren hat. Das Master des neuen Albums wurde von Rich nur 2-3 Tage vor dem Feuer geliefert. Unsere Gedanken sind bei dir Rich!

The band was established in Norway, late November 2001, when guitarist Kim Stenberg invited musicians from his hometown Moss to form a band, destined to play their self-composed Prog-Rock. Almost twenty years later, the band is still alive and kicking, but now only with its founder Stenberg - still in charge.

The early years was a journey into the unknown, with the band scrutinizing the complexity and variety of Prog. All curves and every bends were taken, improvising with different styles and directions. Eventually these “pioneers” found their platform, - as well as their name, when “Motions of Desire” was released in 2005.

From first chord played, Kim’s determination was to create a special sound that in both presence and future would always be recognizable for fans and followers. Lend your ears to all five releases and you’ll be convinced. Each album reveals a wide variety of styles, with both modern and “old-school” approaches. Each and every song can range from soft emotional parties to rough metal-riffs, but there is always this easily recognizable and unique Magic Pie style in every tone.

There is no doubt that this band managed to develop and establish their own signature, in both sound and expression.
