For almost 130 years, the output of Ignacy Jan Paderewski has been identified with the composer's great love for his homeland and patriotism resulting from it. Ignacy Jan Paderewski demonstrated an interest in both composition and virtuoso activity at an early stage of his artistic education andi would also express his deep patriotic commitment through composing.

The Symphony in B minor, op. 24 'Polonia,' recorded on this album, is undoubtedly to be considered the pinnacle achievement of the artist, directly related to the fate of Poland and the idea of striving for its independence. Paderewski, wanting to spectacularly commemorate the 40th anniversary of the outbreak of the January Uprising, decided to compose a monumental work being a tribute to the heroism of the insurgents; another motivation was to illustrate the difficult situation of the Polish nation.

Bohdan Boguszewski
A graduate of the departments: of Music Educations of the Higher State School of Music, and of Composition, Conducting and Theory of Music of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań in the symphonic conducting class of. Prof. Renard Czajkowski. He also explored the secrets of cantata and oratorio conducting in the class of Prof. Stefan Stuligrosz.

In his Alma Mater, he has promoted Five Doctors of Musical Arts in the discipline of conducting. At the University of Szczecin he held honourable position of music director. Within the structures of the Chair of Artistic Education of the university, hi developed two musical study courses that had a decisive influence on the establishment of the Szczecin Art Acamendy.

Hi is founder the Academia Orchestra co-founder and artistic director of the Sacrum Non Profanum International Music Festival, conductor of the State Opera in Bydgoszcz, and musical director of the Opera and Operetta in Szczecin. He has conducted well – know opera works such as: Stanisław Moniuszko’s The Hauted Manor, Halka, The Raftsman, and Verbum Nobile, Giuseppe Verdi’s, Traviata and Rigoletto, Giacomo Puccini’s, Madama Butterfly, Tosca and La Boheme, Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Georges Bizet’s Carmen, Gioachino Rossini’s The Barber of Seville and operettas: Franz Lehar’s The Mery Widow and Gipsy Love, Johann’s Strauss’s The Gypsy Baron and Karl Zeller’s The Bird Seller.

He has conducted concerts in the majority of European countries and the United States with the participation of outstanding artists. He has been applauded, among others, in the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music, Berlin Philharmonic, Lviv Philharmonic, Witold Lutosławski Studio in Warsaw and in Laeiszhalle – the seat of the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2010, he closed the International Chopin Year in New York’s Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. At that time, he conducted works by Fryderyk Chopin interpreted by Olga Kern, Adam Makowicz, Jerzy Stryjniak, and Sławomir Wilk. In 2013, in the presence of Krzysztof Penderecki, he conducted the master’s work A Sea of Dreams Did Breathe on Me – Songs of Reflection and Nostalgia.

He has recorded 10 CDs in cooperation with, among others, DUX and Acte Préalable.

The Chapter of the Club of Science Leaders awarded the professor with the 2010 West Pomeranian Nobel Prize in the field of artistic sciences for his outstanding achievements. Among the many awards he has received, the conductor particularly appreciates the Grand Order of Saint Otto von Bamberg, the Golden Pomeranian Griffin as well as the Golden Cross of Merit and the Gloria Artis Medals.
