“Mneme”, die zweite CD des griechischen Ensembles “Ex Silentio”, ist eine bezaubernde Sammlung musikalischer Momente aus Mittelalter und Renaissance rund um das Mittelmeer.

Die Musiker von”Ex Silentio”, in traditioneller Musik ebenso erfahren wie in Klassik und Alter Musik, erschaffen ein kraftvolles Portrait dieser Epoche und erzählen in Liedern von mächtigen Königen, noblen Prinzen und schönen Prinzessinnen, die diese archaische Welt bevölkerten, ebenso wie die Fantasie der Menschen damals und heute.

“Mneme” ist einerseits eine historisch informierte Interpretation dieser alten musikalischen Quellen, gleichzeitg aber auch eine kreative und fantasievolle klingende Märchenlandschaft, die tief aus griechischer Mythologie und mediterraner Lebensart und -Denkweise schöpft.

Ex Silentio
was founded in 2001 by Dimitris Kountouras and Markellos Chryssikopoulos. Varying from two up to seven musicians, the ensemble is equally at home with late medieval, renaissance as well as with baroque repertoire while is providing contemporary music projects as well, often connected with early music. Being one of the few greek ensembles specializing on early music and historical performance practice, Ex Silentio has given numerous concerts in several European countries like in Greece, Germany, Italy, Holland, Austria etc. The ensemble collaborates regularly with the mezzo soprano Theodora Baka and the counter tenor Nikos Spanos.
