Neues Material von der englischen Punkrock-Formation Creeper aus Southampton. Der kommende Output trägt den Titel "Sex, death & the infinite", folgt auf den gefeierten Erstling 'Eternity, in your arms' aus dem Jahr 2017 und dürfte auch Fans von Boston Manor, AFI, Against Me! oder Hot Water Music begeistern.
"70er-Glam à la T.Rex, David Bowie & Co. trifft auf 90er-Britrock vom Schlage Placebo, einem Touch Horror-Punk und dazu eine gehörige Portion moderner Post-Hardcore-Attitüde - Creeper aus Southampton haben die grandiose Stil-Mixtur ihres 2017er-Debüts „Eternity, in your arms“ noch weiter verfeinert. Wie, fragt ihr? Ganz einfach: Indem sie sowohl den Pop-Appeal als auch das Intensitäts-Level und die Theatralik von Liedern wie „Born cold“, „Annabelle“ oder „Black moon“ nochmal um ein bis zwei Stufen hochdreht haben. Und das während sie jederzeit absolut relaxt klingen. Ein tolles Beispiel für diese Lockerheit ist das von Klavier und einem coolen Rhythmus geführte „Cyanide“, das trotz eines textlich durchaus düsteren Themas völlig entspannt vor sich hin rockt und den Hörer zum Fingerschnippen und Mitsummen verleitet. Weitere Glanzlichter sind die stadiontaugliche Hymne „Annabelle“, die atmosphärisch-nachdenkliche Breitwand-Nummer „Paradise“, das country-beeinflusste „Poisoned heart“ und das dynamische „Napalm girls“. Creeper
A horror punk unit based out of Southampton, England, the aptly named Creeper draw inspiration from a deep well of goth, post-punk, and glam rock greats like AFI, Alkaline Trio, Tiger Army, Bouncing Souls, and David Bowie. Founded in 2014 by vocalist Will Gould, guitarists Ian Miles and Oliver Burdett, bassist Sean Scott, drummer Dan Bratton, and keyboardist Hannah Greenwood, the band issued their eponymous debut EP shortly after formation. In 2015 they inked a deal with Roadrunner Records and put out a second EP, The Callous Heart, which was followed by a tour with the Misfits and an appearance at that year's U.K. Warped Tour. A third EP, The Stranger, dropped the following year, and in 2017, Creeper unleashed their full-length debut, Eternity, In Your Arms. After seemingly announcing their breakup in 2018, the band unexpectedly returned a year later. In 2020 they unleashed their second album, the grandiosely titled Sex, Death & The Infinite Void, which was teased with the anthemic single "Born Cold." (James Christopher Monger, AMG)
