Niamh Bury is at the very forefront of Irish folk music’s revival. Bury deftly pairs her luminescent, instantly recognizable voice with a nuanced signwriting sensibility that draws inspiration from folk, indie, and jazz and draws upon inspirations from artists such as Anna Mieke, Billie Marten and Big Thief. Signing with illustrious Irish folk label Claddagh Records in the early part of 2023, Bury spent much of the year establishing herself as one of the nation’s most exciting emerging artists. With the release of Yellow Roses on Friday, 29th March, fans can expect to hear 10 considered and lovingly-crafted songs that conjure maps of conversations with oneself, loved ones, imaginary characters and those who have passed on to other worlds.

Each is an attempt to arrive at some kind of empathy, understanding and acceptance. The music is both lush and spacious, giving the listener room to swim, dip or fly between verses.

Of her impending debut album release, Niamh Bury says: “I’m so excited to be releasing this collection of songs I’ve had with me for some time. I’m very proud of it and the wonderful people who worked on it with me. I learned so much making it, and feel very lucky to be letting it out into the world.

Niamh Bury has been shortlisted for Best Emerging Artist at the RTÉ Folk Awards, and earlier this month was earmarked by both The Irish Times and The Irish Examiner as 'One to Watch' for 2024.

Niamh Bury
is a musician and songwriter from Dublin’s north coast. She has shared the stage with acts like Ye Vagabonds, Martin Hayes and Dermot Kennedy and has recently signed to Ireland’s iconic folk label, Claddagh Records. Niamh’s repertoire of “richly spun folk” (Nialler9) includes traditional ballads and self-penned songs exploring myth, folklore and human empathy. 2023 saw her release several singles to wide acclaim, and her much-anticipated debut album is due for release in early 2024.

Over the past six months, Niamh has collaborated and shared the stage with acts like Ye Vagabonds, Martin Hayes, Myles O'Reilly, Niamh Regan and Cinder Well and earlier this year, she was selected by Dermot Kennedy to play with him in a gig at one of Dublin’s favourite pubs, The Long Hall, as part of Guinness’s Live and Rising campaign.

She has performed at St. Patrick’s Festival, Body & Soul, Quiet Lights, and Dún Laoghaire Folk Festival.

Niamh is also one of the chief organisers of the traditional singing session The Night Before Larry Got Stretched, which takes place in The Cobblestone pub on the last Sunday of every month and whose founders include members of Lankum.

Speaking about Beehive, she says, "It’s about the overlapping of myth, folk wisdom, and science. It was inspired by a passage from a book I was reading about a tribe in the Amazon who say that the human brain is like a beehive - at once chaotic and intricately ordered."
