Info zu The Day Before Yesterday

Von zwei Dingen darf man sich bei Klammer nicht irritieren lassen: Dem Bandnamen und dem Namen des aktuellen Labels. Die Bezeichnung der Formation mag einfach im Deutschen etwas seltsam anmuten, da sich hierzulande wahrscheinlich keine "düstere" Band nach einem banalen Haushaltsgegenstand benennen würde. Für Engländer klingt das Wort aber sicher cool, und Klammer sind nunmal Briten. Und auch wenn das Label Heavy Metal Records heißt, hat die Musik von Klammer wenig mit Metal zu tun - die Herren machen waschechten Postpunk und nichts anderes.

Dieser macht vom Grund weg viel Spaß! Klammer haben sich um Steve Whitfield herum formiert, einem Produzenten, der unter anderem bei Alben von The Cure und The Mission seine Finger im Spiel hatte und demenstprechend weiß, was er tut. Entsprechende Einflüsse hört man natürlich hier und da im Sound seiner eigenen Band, wobei dieser dennoch eine deutliche, eigene Handschrift trägt und durch den markanten Gesang von Fronter Poss ein zusätzliches Alleinstellungsmerkmal aufweist. Gelegentlich blitzen auch Assoziationen zu anderen Genre-Bands, wie z.B. The Chameleons, auf.

Nun haben die Briten ihr jüngstes Album - The Day Before Yesterday - auf die Welt gebracht, auf dem sie genau jene beschriebenen Klangwelten zelebrieren. Vom eröffnenden Pass The Test, bis hin zum melancholischen Abschluss mit Alone birgt das Album zahlreiche starke Momente, wie zum Beispiel das mächtige Progress (or the lack of), die sehnsuchtsvolle Ballade While You Sleep, oder das äußerst sphärische Stück Oblivion, welches zugleich mein persönliches Highlight darstellt.

Insgesamt weist The Day Before Yesterday auch einige Ecken und Kanten auf, die der einen oder anderen Hörerin den Zugang etwas erschweren könnten, bei anderen Konsumenten aber dafür ganz besonders gut ankommen dürften. Die Musik von Klammer birgt etwas Vertrautes in sich, in das man sich mal fallen lassen kann, um sich an anderen Stellen dran zu reiben. Spannung ist hier in jedem Fall garantiert!

KLAMMER
Hailing from Leeds, Klammer draws from the members' shared love for all things angular, dark, loud and melodic. Previously described as the love child of XTC and Gang Of Four, Klammer offer an enticing contemporary twist on the post-punk attitude, blending elements of goth rock, punk rock and dark wave, all with dark pop sensibilities. You'll find plenty of hooks and a dark and edgy broodiness coursing through their sound.

Formed by UK Producer Steve Whitfield (The Cure/The Mission/Jane Weaver) in 2014, they have already released 3 albums to great critical acclaim, with last years ‘You Have Been Processed’ receiving fantastic reviews across the board. The singles ‘Modern God’ and ‘Spiral Girl’ both from the album, received airplay on 6 Music.

Having consistently played up and down the country both as a headline act and in support of some big name bands (including The Skids, The Undertones, Richie Ramone, Chameleons Vox, Penetration and The Membranes), they have also played at Rebellion for the last two years and The Great British Alternative festival. Klammer are intent on consolidating their position as one of the country’s finest live Post Punk acts.
