"Neal Schon's Journey Through Time" - ein Live-Konzert, das am 9. Februar 2018 im The Independent in San Francisco, Kalifornien, aufgenommen wurde.

Dies ist die Show, bei der Neal Schon, Gründungsmitglied der in die Rock & Roll Hall of Fame aufgenommenen Band Journey, Journey Through Time zum ersten Mal zusammen mit dem zweifachen Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-Inductee und ehemaligen Bandkollegen von Journey und Santana, Gregg Rolie, vorstellte. An der Seite von Schon und Rolie spielten das aktuelle Journey-Mitglied Deen Castronovo am Gesang und Schlagzeug, Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake) am Bass und John Varn an den Keyboards und Gesang. Bei ihrem Auftritt vor ausverkauftem Haus im Rahmen einer Benefiz-Show, um Geld für die Opfer der Brände zu sammeln, die im Oktober 2017 die North Bay in der Region San Francisco verwüstet hatten, spielte die Band Songs aus dem gesamten Katalog von Journey, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf dem Repertoire der Band aus den 70er Jahren lag, darunter die ersten drei Alben der Band, "Journey", "Look Into The Future" und "Next".

Der mehrfach für einen Grammy nominierte Schon gründete Journey 1972 und ist bis heute das einzige konstante Mitglied der Band, das an jedem Album und jeder Tournee teilgenommen hat. Bevor er Journey gründete, war Schon auch Mitglied von Santana und ist mit einer Vielzahl anderer Bands aufgetreten, darunter Bad English, Hardline und HSAS sowie mit Jan Hammer und Paul Rodgers (Bad Company, Free). Im Laufe seiner Karriere hat er auch 10 Soloalben veröffentlicht, wobei sein Gitarrenstil als gefühlvoll und melodisch beschrieben wird und von anderen Legenden wie Eric Clapton und Prince bewundert wird.Journey haben weltweit über 100 Millionen Platten verkauft und sind damit eine der meistverkauften Bands aller Zeiten. Chartstürmende Hits wie "Don't Stop Believin'", "Open Arms", "Lights", "Faithfully" und "When You Love a Woman" gelten als einige der wichtigsten Songs des Rock'n'Roll-Kanons.

The longtime guitarist for arena rockers Journey, Neal Schon was born February 27, 1954 in San Mateo, CA; a child prodigy, he joined Santana at age 17, making his debut on 1971's III LP. In 1973 Schon co-founded Journey with fellow Santana alum Gregg Rolie; although the group's early records favored a largely instrumental, progressive rock-influenced approach, with the 1978 addition of frontman Steve Perry their commercial fortunes ascended as slick hard rock hits like "Wheel in the Sky," "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'," and "Anyway You Want It" became FM radio staples. In 1981, Schon teamed with keyboardist Jan Hammer for the fusion-inspired Untold Passion; that same year, Journey achieved mega-stardom with the release of the chart-topping Escape, which yielded the Top Ten hits "Who's Crying Now," "Open Arms," and "Don't Stop Believin'." A second collaboration with Hammer, Here to Stay, followed in 1983, with Schon soon rejoining Journey for the smash Frontiers; however, despite the success of 1986's Raised on Radio, he left the band in 1989, recording the solo effort Late Nite before forming the supergroup Bad English with singer John Waite. After two LPs, Bad English imploded, and in late 1993, he joined the reformed Journey, issuing the acoustic solo outing Beyond the Thunder two years later.
