Die Idee für diese Aufnahme wurde während der Covid-Pandemie im Jahr 2020 geboren, als viele von uns isoliert waren und nicht persönlich miteinander kommunizieren konnten. Für Musiker war es in dieser Zeit schwierig, vor allem weil sie nicht mit anderen musizieren oder live Konzerte geben konnten. Diese Situation hat uns zum Nachdenken darüber gebracht, wie Komponisten, Musiker und Künstler mit Situationen umgegangen sind, in denen es keine Freiheit gab, und wie sie mit Chaos, Hindernissen oder Verfolgung umgegangen sind.

Bei der Auswahl der Werke für dieses Album haben wir verschiedene historische Epochen betrachtet (zu denen auch manchmal Pandemien gehörten), um zu verstehen, welche Auswirkungen Unterdrückung und Unfreiheit auf den kreativen Prozess hatten. Im Laufe unserer umfangreichen Recherchen wurden wir schließlich auf den "positiven" Aspekt dieses Themas aufmerksam: Uns interessierte nicht so sehr das, was Menschen aufgrund von einschränkenden Situationen und widrigen Umständen nicht tun konnten, sondern vor allem das, was sie trotz dieser Umstände erreichen konnten. Wir sind bei unserer Recherche auf beeindruckende Künstlerpersönlichkeiten gestoßen, die Musik von großem Wert hinterlassen haben.

Das Programm dieses Albums soll diejenigen hervorheben, die sich in beengten Verhältnissen befanden und durch musikalisches Schaffen und künstlerischen Ausdruck ein Gefühl der Freiheit fanden. Auf unserem Weg durch den gesamten Prozess der Produktion dieses Albums, waren ihre Stimmen unsere Richtschnur. Tiffany Butt und María Cecilia Muñoz

María Cecilia Muñoz
Born in Argentina, the young flautist María Cecilia Muñoz has been a prize-winner at many national and international competitions. She can be heard as a soloist with major symphony and chamber orchestras, as well as in fascinating recitals with brilliant pianists and chamber music partners and in modern music concerts.

María Cecilia Muñoz has been successful at countless competitions, such as the Nielsen International Competition and the “International Aeolus Bläser-Wettbewerb”.

She was awarded first prize at the “International Jeunesses Musicales Competition Belgrade”, and the “Crusel International Flute Competition Finland”. A highlight of her career so far was winning the “Beijing Nicolet International Flute Compeition China” in 2010, one of the biggest and most important flute competitons worldwide.

In July 2013 was released her debut album “Couleur” together with the Canadian pianist Tiffany Butt. The CD is dedicated to the French repertoire and was recorded and produced by the German label ARS Produktion. In 2014 was presented her solo album with the Basel Chamber Orchestra and the harpist Sarah O’Brian.

Major supporters of her talent include the Stiftung Mozarteum in Argentina and the Mozart Gesellschaft Dortmund, the Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund, the Schweizerische Tonkünstlerverein and the Basler Orchester-Gesellschaft.

With her wide range of repertoire she has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in prominent halls such as the Berliner Philharmoniker, Konzerthaus Berlin, Konzerthaus Dortmund, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf and Zürich, the Casino Basel and at important festivals including the Menhuin Festival Gstaad, Davos Festival and the Tage für neue Musik Zürich, together with Tiffany Butt, Riccardo Bovino, the Festival Strings Lucerne, Sinfonieorchester Basel, Kammerorchester Basel, Deutsche Kammerakademie, Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, Mendelssohn Kammerorchester Leipzig, Ensemble Laboratorium, Belgrade Stings Orchestra, Saint Petersburg Cappella Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra Virtuosi di Kuhmo, Symphony Orchestra of Salta and Córdoba and National Radio Orchestra in Argentina.

As an orchestral musician Maria Cecilia Muñoz has had the opportunity to play under renowned conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Peter Eötvös and Heinz Holliger. She is the solo flutist of the Camerata Bern and Sinfonieorchester Jura/Switzerland and is member of the Oper Orchestra of the Colon Theater in Buenos Aires/Argentina. She also collaborates with the Basel and Lausanne chamber orchestras.

She completed her education in Argentina under Adriana Rodriguez and in Switzerland with Felix Renggli, in the well-known soloists-class of the Hochschule Basel. Her studies were complemented by, among others, Aurele Nicolet, who inspired her greatly.

She is extremely committed to performing contemporary music and is a member of the modern music ensemble “laboratorium”, with whom she has played in many festivals and premiered many works written especially for the ensemble.
