Als drifting (treiben lassen) bezeichnen EYOT das Gefühl ihrer vielen Reisen während der letzten vier Jahre. Und gereist sind sie in vielerlei Hinsicht: Um die halbe Welt, von Ost nach West, von der Vergangenheit bis zur Gegenwart, zu unzähligen Konzerten, mit vielen verschiedenen Menschen, die sie künstlerisch beeinflusst haben. Allerdings betreibt dieses extrem dynamische Quartett ein sehr zielgerichtetes „Treibenlassen“.

DRIFTERS spiegelt ihre Emotionen und Erfahrungen wider und vermittelt ein klares Bild einer Band mit Ideen, Träumen und der Kraft, all das auch umzusetzen. Auch wenn ihre Musik einen guten Anteil Melancholie enthält, so findet sich in den Songs am Ende doch immer auch etwas Optimistisches.

Nur wer das Andere sucht, findet zu sich selbst. Ihrem Drang nach neuer Musik folgend, haben sich vier junge Musiker aus dem serbischen Nis zur Band Eyot gefunden. Pianist Dejan Ilijic schreibt Songs, die auf seinen Erfahrungen mit Klassik und osteuropäischer Folklore aufbauen. Bald aber weiten sie sich zu orchestral ausgerollten Teppichen, in die bunte Jazz- und Pop-Fäden eingezogen sind. Rhythmisch und harmonisch einfache Muster entwickeln und verschlaufen sich zu immer dichteren und bunteren Geweben. Pianist Ilijic nimmt sich improvisatorische Freiheiten, denen Gitarrist Sladjan Milenovic, Bassist Marko Stojiljkovic und Drummer Milos Vojvodic instrumental Paroli bieten. So steigern sich die Eyot-Stücke zum hypnotisierenden Soundtrack für betörende Tagträume. Bereits ihr zweites Album geben die Serben beim findigen deutschen Label Neuklang heraus.

EYOT is the band founded in Nis, Serbia about 3 years ago. Their music represents the musicians hungering for a fresh sound, blending the culture of jazz, the sophistication of classical piano, the gritty elements of East European folk music, and just a hint of smooth electronic fusion. In 2009 they were one of the three winners of Umbria Jazz Balkanic Windows Competition; many domestic and international festivals followed later (Nišvill Jazz Fest, World of Jazz in Dubai, DOKfest in Munich, Alarma Punk Jazz in Sofia, Veisa Jazz / Saransk...), along with club gigs on regular basis.
