Villa Vivaldi“ verbindet Vivaldi-Concerti in gemischter Besetzung mit neuen Werken für historische Instrumente, die speziell für die Aufführung neben Vivaldis Konzerten komponiert wurden. Dramatik, Bewegung, Schönheit, Sinnlichkeit, Kontrast: Was Vivaldis Musik ausmacht, ist in diesem Projekt auch Thema der modernen Kompositionen. Diese hat das Ensemble Volcania bei Komponisten in Auftrag gegeben, die hier ihre eigene Musiksprache mit Sinn für barocke Dramaturgie verbinden. Es geht der Leiterin des Ensembles darum, der Barockmusik im Geist verwandte, sinnlich begreifbare und expressive Musik der Jetzt-Zeit gegenüber zu stellen. „Musica antica e viva“ eben.

Leiterin des jungen Ensemble Volcania ist die Blockflötistin Elisabeth Champollion. Sie hat an der Bremer Hochschule der Künste bei Han Tol und Dörte Nienstedt studiert und anschließend ein Master-Studium für Alte Musik bei Pierre Hamon in Lyon absolviert. Seit 2019 unterrichtet sie an ihrer alten Hochschule Blockflöte und Consortspiel. Sie ist als Solistin mit prominenten Ensembles international erfolgreich unterwegs, vor allem aber hat sie in Bremen drei unterschiedliche eigene Ensembles gegründet, mit denen sie prompt verschiedene Preise bei nationalen und internationalen Wettbewerben gewann. Das jüngste dieser Ensembles ist das 2018 gegründete Ensemble Volcania, das auf die Kombination von Barockmusik mit zeitgenössischen Komponisten spezialisiert ist, wobei auch die neue Musik auf historischen Instrumenten gespielt wird. Im März 2019 hat Elisabeth Champollion mit dem Projekt „Villa Vivaldi“ in Bremen eine bejubelte Premiere gefeiert.

Daran als Solist und „Prinzipal-Geiger“ maßgeblich beteiligt war Daniel Sepec, einer der profiliertesten und vielseitigsten Geiger in Deutschland. Er ist regelmäßiger Konzertmeister der Deutschen Kammerphilharmonie Bremen und des Balthasar Neumann-Ensembles (Thomas Hengelbrock). Sepec war auch schon einmal bei uns in Kempen zu Gast, nämlich als Mitglied von Tabea Zimmermanns „Arcanto-Quartett“. Er ist sowohl auf der modernen Geige als auch auf der Barockgeige zu Hause – Konzertmeister, Kammermusiker und Solist in einem, und das in allen Stilen und Epochen der Musikgeschichte.

Elisabeth Champollion completed her studies of recorder in Bremen, Germany, with Han Tol and Dörte Nienstedt and was a Master student of Pierre Hamon in the Lyon Conservatorium of Music in France.

She lives in Bremen and works as a freelance soloist and ensemble player, especially with her three groups Boreas Quartett Bremen, PRISMA, and Ensemble Volcania.

Concert tours as a soloist with the orchestras New Dutch Academy, Elbipolis Barockorchester Hamburg and Concerto Foscari bring her to play solo concertos and chamber music in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Boston Early Music Festival, Valletta Festival, Premiere Performances Hong Kong, MDR Musiksommer or Tage Alter Musik Herne.

On stage, Elisabeth goes for a rich communication with the other musicians and with the audience. She offers to discover and convey the joy and melancholy, woes and easiness of baroque music and modern music on historical instruments.

In 2019/2020 Elisabeth was a teacher of Consort/Ensemble playing in the recorder classes of the Hochschule für Künste Bremen.

Elisabeth also curates an Early Music concert series in Bremen and is first prize winner of the competition for recorder solo in Nordhorn, Germany (2014) and was awarded first prize of the International Biber Competition in St. Florian (Austria) in 2015, together with her ensemble PRISMA. With Boreas Quartett Bremen she won first prize and audience prize of the TAMIS Competition for Early Music by the Saarland radio and a scholarship by Deutscher Musikrat. Her dedication to live performances combining Baroque and New Music in a passionate, captivating way led to the founding of her group Ensemble Volcania, uniting Early Music performers with some of the most exciting composers of today.

In 2011 she has taken part in the Academy Concerto21, dealing with new concert formats and audience development.
