Texas-based duo Balmorhea (Rob Lowe and Michael A. Muller) will release the original score to The Trap, the feature-length directorial debut from Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), on 29 August. Written and recorded at Estuary Recording in Austin, the album marks their latest project for Deutsche Grammophon.

A movie about a woman shut off from the world that is brought back to life through a friendship with a damaged young man, the music "is very honest and intimate; gravitating mostly around piano and vibraphone with atmospheric guitars and analog synthesizers completing the sonic image,” says the duo.

The Texas group’s genre-spanning oeuvre has cultivated a vast worldwide listenership with music that evokes “imagery of brilliant landscapes and quiet pastoral scenes” (NPR); that’s “both restorative and disquieting” (The Atlantic); a collective soundtrack for life’s swells, silences, and anchoring in the present. In recent years, Lowe and Muller have returned to their roots, retreating to remote corners of Texas to write new music as a duo while embarking on a new chapter with the history-seeped Deutsche Grammophon label.
