Info zu Disintegration

Produced by Jack Hallenbeck and Miller himself, the slow-burning ballad comes with a Dylan Reyes-directed video documenting an extended live performance in which Miller takes the track to strange and unexpected places. According to a press release, the album’s title is a nod to William Basinski’s well-known experimental opus Disintegration Loops.

Nicaraguan-American artist Daniel Noah Miller announces the release of his debut album, "Disintegration", which will be released on February 16 via Fader Label. In celebration, Miller shares his poignant new single 'Opening Me' and the stunning accompanying video. An intimate and vulnerable offering, 'Opening Me' captures the state of complete surrender when you find yourself in the eye of the storm, which surprisingly can lead to a kinder, more loving resolution, especially when it comes to heartbreak. Co-produced by his friend and collaborator Jack Hallenbeck, the video shows Miller performing the song through an exciting new arrangement in front of an audience for the first time, resulting in a deeply captivating experience. Opening Me' presents a glimpse of what's to come from Miller's exciting new debut project.

Daniel comments: "'Opening Me' documents the last heartbreaking and uncontrolled days of a romantic relationship. It was something I wrote while experiencing this pain in real time, which is rare for me. I often find that it can take several months or even years to process my experiences in a way that is worth sharing. I have always been reluctant to capture ephemeral emotions like anger or jealousy, since I might regret them later or feel they don't match my perspective. But this song came to me while I was sleeping on an air mattress in the studio where we were recording. I may have overlooked it as I was so numb with sadness, but my producer Jack Hallenbeck overheard me playing the idea and prompted me to finish it. It's one of my favourite songs that came out of this process."

Marking a new chapter for the artist on a personal and sonic level. "Disintegration is home to a collection of deeply confessional songs, revealing tremendous personal hardship over a bed of sound that honours his Nicaraguan and Caribbean roots, with the sounds that have shaped him throughout his life, including the stunning work of William Basinski's Disintegration Loops. The stunning project expands on the pre-established sound of his band, Lewis Del Mar, which has garnered critical acclaim and accumulated over 350 million plays to date.

Daniel comments: "I want to say that I don't think the content of this song dips into resentment, even though it is imbued with a fiery spirit. It meditates on the way we often rewrite our past to match our current feelings, to rationalise our existence. I wanted to reject that with all my might, and this song serves as a plea for the other person involved to do so as well. To respect the time we share in its entirety. In many ways, that feeling has led to a really beautiful friendship, so this song has a very deep meaning in my current reality. And as I've begun to perform this music, I've found that 'Opening Me', in particular, acts as a mirror for the current situation we collectively find ourselves in. One where it's hard to find common ground and empathy, where we often follow our worst instincts too quickly".
