Rob Nijboer
studied guitar with Willem van Lier at the Conservatory of Groningen. In 1993, he obtained his diplomas as Teaching and Performing Musician and was awarded a scholarship from the Andrea Elkenbracht Fund. This enabled him to continue his studies with John Mills in London. He also took master classes with John Wiliams, Roberto Aussel and Pavel Steidl.

In 1995, he founded "Trio Saudade", with which he gave many concerts and released a CD.

In 1999, he released his first solo CD "Koyunbaba", with works by Barrios, Ponce, Brouwer and Domeniconi, among others. In 2004, Duo Azahar, also released by VLS records.

With soprano Marian van der Heide, he forms "Duo Abrazo". They perform South American and Spanish music by composers such as de Falla, Rodrigo, Piazzolla and Falù.

Rob Nijboer teaches at the Cultural Centre "de Wâldsang" in Friesland and in his own practice in Haren.

He plays on a guitar by Canadian luthier Sergei de Jonge and a guitar by Dutch luthier Richard Heeres.

In July 2022, Rob's latest CD was released by Aliud Records.
