Her personal musical journey has taken many turns…Churches, performances on US & Canadian TV, Christian radio, national high school vocal competitions, national tours with her college vocal group, worship leading, vocal coaching for aspiring young artists and session work on various projects in Philly, Dallas, Mississippi & Nashville.
From her early childhood years, the journey began with her family traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and overseas.

The family band was lead by Reta’s father who was an outstanding tenor born in 1932 during the jazz/big band era. These musical influences instilled in her, a deep passion for this genre of music. So why a Christmas record? Here’s Reta in her own words: “Christmas was a big deal in our house”. “Growing up with Northeast we experienced a lot of white Christmases, with Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole, provided the soundtracks for that magical season. The joys & family traditions of the season…that Christmas feeling has always remained deep in my heart.”
“I recorded many songs and albums with my family through the years and my dad and I had always toyed with the idea of doing a holiday record together. Since his passing 10 years ago, the longing to record that quintessential classic Christmas record as a tribute to him, became the driving factor to see this dream come to fruition.”
The essence of Christmas of that all of history focuses on the Incarnation..God became flesh..Behold Emmanuel. The hope that Jesus alone brings to every person in the world is timeless. This new release, “That Christmas Feeling”, is undoubtedly a cheerful nod to the popular seasonal favorites. No detail has been overlooked with this flawlessly executed project.

Reta Watkins, vocals
Worship leader, vocalist and recording artist Reta Watkins was just six years old when she recorded her first single. Growing up the youngest of five children in a family of musical missionaries, Reta remembers life was an adventure.
“We lived by faith,” she muses. “We slept in a camper or in people’s homes. We received love offerings and sold records and tapes to support the ministry. Everyone in the family played an instrument. I gravitated toward percussion, but mostly, I was a singer. I wouldn’t take any of it back.”
Reta shared tag-team vocals with her brother, singer/songwriter Steve Garrett, in the Christian pop/rock band Pilgrim’s Progress, and has honed her skills as a vocal stylist for more than 30 years. It doesn’t take more than a cursory listen to realize that her debut solo album, the holiday themed project, That Christmas Feeling, was well worth the wait.
