The heavy metal world has produced quite a few legends. But none is like Mat Sinner. So much conviction, lifeblood and self-sacrifice, so much pure heavy metal spirit, so much dedication is usually not found bundled in a single person.

Since 1982 he has fronted the band named after him, which now triumphantly returns with Brotherhood: a massive album, whose title is as self-explanatory as the mission of its creator. Self-produced and mixed / mastered by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, among others), it is a record that carries the band's internal brotherhood under its heart as much as the brotherhood of the worldwide heavy metal following.

"We belong together - and this album is meant to express that," says Sinner. That following is also brought into the spotlight in particular by the numerous guests represented on the album. With hooks, riffs and precise hardness Mat Sinner revitalizes virtues that he co-invented four decades ago. The force and hardness represented on Brotherhood as well as the razor-sharp riffs will make even members of the innermost Sinner fan circle topple off their feet.

Mat Sinner founded the band named after him in Stuttgart in 1980, directly after his school band Goddess Shiva, although it was not until the following year that other musicians joined, who are now counted as part of the original line-up.[1] The first LP Wild'n'Evil was released in 1982. The follow-up Fast Decision was released a year later by Gama Records; Mat Sinner claims to this day that the album was not fully completed due to the contract with Noise Records that had been signed in the meantime and that he released demos. Danger Zone, the first album under Noise Records, was the band's first attempt to develop their personal style, which at this point still had little to do with the melodic metal of the following and last albums. After many line-up changes, the band stabilised with Herman Frank (Accept) as guitarist and recorded the album Touch of Sin in 1985. This production is still considered a milestone of German heavy metal today. Comin' Out Fighting was recorded with the guitar team Angel Schleifer and Mathias Dieth. In 1987 the album Dangerous Charm was released, an album with more melodic sounds than the releases before. After that, the band agreed to take a break. In the meantime, Mat Sinner released a solo album called Back to the Bullet (BMG) in 1990, arranged with a completely new band.

In 1992, the original line-up reunited and released the album No More Alibis. With the subsequent albums Respect and Bottom Line, the band managed to stay in the Japanese charts for five weeks. With this musical reorientation, the band's popularity continued to rise, leading to guest appearances opening for Mr. Big and Savatage, as well as the start of their own German tour and the release of a live album. The band was even more successful with the albums Judgement Day (1997) and The Nature of Evil (1998), after which they went on a European tour supporting Deep Purple. The Nature of Evil was the band's most successful album to date, reaching number 63 in the German album charts. In 1997, Mat Sinner formed the band Primal Fear with former Gamma Ray singer Ralf Scheepers. Mat Sinner is described as the driving force behind both band projects.

In 2000, the band had their first line-up change in five years. Uli Kusch, former drummer of Helloween and Gamma Ray, as well as guitarist Henny Wolter produced the album The End of Sanctuary with the band (number 87 in the Media Control Album Charts). In 2003, the metal-heavy album There Will Be Execution was released. The band had thus released six albums in nine years. This was followed by a four-year break, during which Mat Sinner concentrated on working with Primal Fear. Mat Sinner reformed Sinner in 2006 to record the album Mask of Sanity. With the line-up of Henny Wolter (guitar), Klaus Sperling (drums) and Christof Leim (guitar), the band toured and signed a new long-term record deal with AFM Records. In September 2008, the album Crash & Burn was released with the same line-up. This was followed by tours of Asia (Japan), South America and the USA.

The album One Bullet Left was released on 9 September 2011 and entered the charts at position 65. Mat Sinner and Christof Leim were supported by André Hilgers (Rage) on drums and guitarists Alex Scholpp (Tarja) and Alex Beyrodt (Primal Fear, Voodoo Circle). In 2013, this line-up re-recorded many Sinner classics with Touch of Sin 2, including three new songs and the music video Don't Believe a Word.

In 2016, Sinner of Rock Meets Classic and the Primal Fear World Tour planned to write a new Sinner CD and revive the band. Guitarist Alex Scholpp remained in the band and with guitarist Tom Naumann, a former member rejoined the band. Mat Sinner produced the album himself again and together with co-producer Dennis Ward went into the studios in autumn 2016 and recorded the new album Tequila Suicide. Gus G. played a guitar solo on the song Why and Sascha Krebs and Kolinda Brozovic can be heard as further guest singers. Music videos are available for the songs Tequila Suicide and Road to Hell. The single Tequila Suicide was released on 24 February 2017, the album on 31 March 2017 on AFM Records and managed the highest chart entry in the band's history at No. 49. After the band successfully toured Japan, Australia and Germany in 2018, 2019 began with new recordings for the new album Santa Muerte. Mat Sinner is again producing himself with Dennis Ward. In addition to guitarists Naumann & Scholpp, Markus Kullmann (Voodoo Circle) has been playing drums since 2018, and Italian Giorgia Colleluori (Rock Meets Classic) shares vocals with Mat Sinner live and on the new album, released on 13 September 2019 on AFM Records.
