With their recording of Beethoven’s first and second piano concerto, Yevgeny Sudbin and Osmo Vänskä close the cycle of five concertos that began in Minneapolis, with the Minnesota Orchestra, in 2010. For these two earlier and more classical works, Sudbin and Vänskä have travelled to Helsinki to team up with Tapiola Sinfonietta, one of the top Nordic ensembles, and well suited for the scores. In this short clip made during the recording of the disc, conductor and soloist talk about the project and the music itself, besides excerpts from the first and second movements of Concerto No. 1 in C major.
