Andy Gillmann
is one of Europe’s most exciting drummers and teachers. He has played at numerous clinics, workshops and drummers’ meetings and he is extremely busy as a teacher, session player and author of DVDs and books. His musical approach ranges from Rock-Pop to Jazz, Latin and Fusion. He studied drums in Arnhem (NL) with Joop van Eerven and Rene Cremers. His virtuoso brush-playing has resulted in invitations to drum events around Europe. He has been involved in countless recording sessions, TV and radio broadcasts with a wide variety of artists. The world-famous website “drummerworld.com” has dedicated a detailed presentation to him. Between 2017 and 2024 he was busy with his own quartet „FORSONICS“.
Their albums, „FORSONICS“, „Timeline“ and „Open Water“, published by „JazzSick Records”, has been critically acclaimed in the German press. In 2014 he published the world’s first DVD dealing with the subject of the drum-solo. „Create your Drum Solo“ is a fascinating mixture of performance and teaching and is a huge pool of inspiration. He teaches at the „Drummer’s Institute“ in Krefeld and at the „Institute for Music and Media“ of the „Robert Schumann Music School “ in Dusseldorf. Andy Gillman plays Mapex Drums, Zildjian Cymbals, Aquarian Drumheads, Beyerdynamic Microphones and Rohema Sticks & Brushes.
In February 2026, the CD/LP of his latest project will be released: Andy Gillmann Acoustic Impulse – featuring Joscho Stephan on „Jazzsick Records – Düsseldorf“.
