“Imaginary Land”, Donata’s debut solo album, is a retrospective realization that something never existed exactly as it seemed. It is the hope of a new beginning as we leave behind all we can no longer accept.

The indie-folk album was created in a magical songwriting process against the backdrop of the stormy Dutch seashore. Donata co-produced "Imaginary Land" with Gunnar Örn Tynes (from the Icelandic band múm) and collaborated with Jasja J. Offermans on bass, Viktor Orri Árnason on string arrangements, and Wouter Rentema and Magnús Trygvason Eliassen on drums and percussion. Mastering was done by Zino Mikorey.

An authentic and powerful voice writing heartfelt songs. Donata is an award-winning singer-songwriter and producer based in Berlin. Her songs reflect themes of growth, both personally and spiritually.

Donata was born in Bonn and has been writing songs since a very young age. She studied Vocals at the University of the Arts in Amsterdam, where she created her award-winning band Nosoyo. The duo moved to Berlin, released two critically acclaimed indie-pop albums and toured intensively with bands as Lola Marsh, The Dø, AURORA, and many others.

After releasing two highly acclaimed and awarded albums (VUT-award best newcomer & best song) with her project Nosoyo, as well as touring Europe with Aurora, The Dø, and Lola Marsh, Donata’s hitting the solo path & set to release her debut “Imaginary Land” in spring 2023. On the back of an experimental mindset and past collaborations inspired by jazz and classic, the studied vocalist (University of popular Arts Amsterdam) fuses Indie-Folk and Americana moments à la Feist and Florence & The Machine with orchestral Chamber-Pop momentums.

Her debut album “Imaginary Land” is a beautifully orchestrated alt-folk album exploring the hopeful power of transformation and new beginnings. It will be released in spring 2023 via Humming Records. With her indie-pop band Nosoyo, Donata previously released two critically acclaimed albums and toured Europe with The Dø, Lola Marsh, Aurora and many more.
