In einem kleinen Urner Bergdorf in musikalischem Umfeld aufgewachsen, gründete die Pianistin Gisela Horat 2009 ihr gleichnamiges Trio. Nach einigen Wechseln in der Besetzung spielen an der Seite der Chefin aktuell der Schlagzeuger Samuel Büttiker und der Bassist Simon Iten. Beides sind sie erfahrene Musiker mit einer beeindruckenden Vielseitigkeit, die beinahe jeden Stil umfasst.

Inspirationsquelle für Gisela Horats Kompositionen sind eigene Erlebnisse, Erfahrungen und Eindrücke. Durch Improvisation aus dem Moment heraus und gegenseitige Anregungen klingen die Stücke immer wieder anders, pendeln zwischen Ruhe und Dynamik und bewegen sich irgendwo zwischen Pop, Jazz und Minimal Music. Stets aber erzählen sie Geschichten, erzeugen Stimmungen und Spannung und lassen dem Publikum Raum für eigene Bilder.

Nebst den Einflüssen durch Eric Satie, Bill Evans, Enrico Pieranunzi, Esbjörn Svensson und Sylvie Courvoisier ist auch der klassische Hintergrund der Pianistin unverkennbar. Dieser verleiht dem klangmalerisch-lyrischen Spiel einen harmonischen Rahmen und spricht dadurch auch eine Zuhörerschaft an, die den Zugang zu Jazz gewöhnlich nicht findet.

The Gisela Horat Trio
exists since Spring 2009. On the drums is Samuel Büttiker and at the double bass Simon Iten. The band plays stories from the human life with all the different facets of it. The titles had been composed and developed by Gisela and explore the unknown space between composed and improvised music. Nonetheless, what you hear includes also the experiences of Samuel and Simon.

Groovy sounds surrounded by improvised tunes describe in a powerful and lyric way the daily life with its happy and less happy moments, feelings and dreams. The trio has now released their third live CD.

Gisela Horat
started her carrer with lessons in classic piano. More than twenty years ago, she started to explore the improvised music. She attended lesssons from A. Herrmann, E. Bächlin, Ch. Wiesendanger and M. Scarton to get a better understanding of this different world. Gisela also attended sessions in percussion and saxophone to extend her knowledge and get also a better understanding of the other voices within a jazz band.

Her first trio was with Andy Zitz (base) and Marc Stämpfli (drums). But she had also a duo with Maria Geiger on the violin for more than ten years. This account doesn't include many more groups, where Gisela Horat was part of playing Jazz Standards or led by her playing her own music.

Her current project is the Gisela Horat Trio with Samuel Büttiker (drums) and Simon Iten (base), but also a solo program and a Duo with the flutist Kristina Müller.
