Info for Noshk Blues

Since 1991, Erlend Skomsvoll has established himself as a formidable interpreter of other people's music, as a score writer and orchestra leader in collaboration with big names such as Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Kaizers Orchestra, Mathias Eick, Marius Neset, Arve Tellefsen, DNBE, KORK, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, Allegria and many others. He has won the prestigous Norwegian Spelleman award in jazz and classical music as well as Buddyprisen.

He has a unique accompaniment in double bassist Roger Morland and drummer Knut Aalefjær. At a high artistic level, they combine jazz and classical stylistic understanding. The harmonic and melodic phrasing of classical music is added to an otherwise rich jazz musical expression.

The collaboration originated in connection with a corona-reduced concert with Marius Neset and DNBE in 2021, and the trio has since then met regularly to develop a personal expression. So now you can hear the formidable interpreter bring his own music to life, and finally in trio format! With titles such as "Male tangentene dine", "Her står jeg og der står du", "Måkkebøkke", "Rimfrost", and a wide range of other creative, beautiful, heartfelt and groovy compositions.

Erlend Skomsvoll
Norwegians know Erlend Skomsvoll as a composer/arranger as well as a pianist. He has developed a unique rhythmic and melodic style over the years, making him today’s most popular arranger for Norwegian jazz and pop artists. Skomsvoll organized and led a concert featuring Chick Corea’s music at the Molde International Jazz Festival, July 2000. The concert featured big band “Trondheim jazz Orchestra” as well as Chick Corea as soloist. Corea had allowed Skomsvoll to use his music and was so pleased with the results that he went on a 2001-tour through Norway with Skomsvoll. Skomsvoll was able to replicate his success with a similar project he did in Molde with Pat Metheny the next summer. COME SHINE Skomsvoll’s playing of the piano is influenced by Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, and Count Basie.
