Anders Boson Jazz Ensemble
music is reminiscent of 1960s Swedish jazz, but also of musicians such as Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Soft, sensitive and finely tuned - that's how their debut album ‘Kärleken’, released in 2021, was described. Now a new album - ‘Slottsskogen’ - will be released in early May.
Male Swedish jazz singers who sing in Swedish do not grow on trees. Trumpeter, singer and composer Anders Boson does not challenge the inner ear, but the album is beautiful and smart and infectious. Anders Boson writes his own music, and it is interspersed with music by Tomasz Stańko, John Coltrane and Sade. Instrumental and vocal music are mixed, as are lyrics in Swedish and English. Anders Boson is a social worker, but also a record company man, songwriter, vocalist and musician. His career has moved from soulful soft pop to a more jazz-orientated sound.
The group's debut album ‘Kärleken’ from 2021 was warmly received by listeners and critics. Soft, sensitive, delicate, romantic jewel, it was said. It was described as an incurable romantic's longing for the meaningful, and contained reflections on how the broken heart can be healed. The instrumental songs also provide a kind of soundtrack to the sadness, hope and colours.
