Sheryl Crow – Threads

Review Sheryl Crow – Threads

This album is the farewell album of the rock singer, guitarist, bassist, pianist, songwriter and multiple Grammy winner Sheryl Crow. No, age reasons can't be the reason, Sheryl Crow is just 57 years old. A farewell tour is also on the agenda. Why she stops is not announced. After Sheryl Crow has had cancer, it can be speculated that her retreat is related to it. In any case, she has invited a whole host of friends and colleagues to participate in Threads as guests. On Threads, Cheryl Crow's eleventh studio album, are Maren Morris, Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raid, Chris Stapleton, Chuck D, Andra Day, Gary Clark Jr.., Eric Clapton, Sting, Brandi Carlile, Johnny Cash, Lukas Nelson, Jason Isbell, Keith Richards, Wille Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Joe Walsh, St. Vincent, Lucius, Emmylou Harris, James Taylor, Vince Gill. In order to accommodate this colorful crowd of no less than thirty artists on an album with their individual contributions, it must include a corresponding number of songs. Of the seventeen songs, twelve are Cheryl Crow's premiere songs presented here, whose protest song "Redemption Day" has also found its way into the new album. The remaining four songs are cover songs of prominent colleagues. "Beware of Darness", presented with guests Eric Clapton, Brandi Carlisle, and Sting is a lesser known song by George Harrison. The same goes for "Everything Is Broken" by Bob Dylan, presented here with Jason Isbell. Keith Richards can be heard with the Stones song "The Worst" and Kris Kristoffersen with "Border Lord". Cheryl Crow is always part of the party.

Not every song, also not every song of Cheryl Crow is a bringer on Threads. This is normal with such a large number of songs. The best figure is Cheryl Crow with the Love Songs of Threads and of course with the few real Rock titles. Without a doubt, "The Worst" with Kris Kristoffersen is a bringer. No less remarkable is "Nobody's Perfect" with the participation of Emmylou Harris, whose voice harmonizes perfectly with that of Cheryl Crow. "Flying Blind" with James Taylor is another bringer because of Taylor's perfection. "Don't" is no less perfectly presented by the duo Lucius, who bring southern color into play. Heartfelt Cheryl Crow, supported by Vince Gill, creates the final love song of the album "For the Sake of Love.

Threads proves to be a worthy Good- Bye of the singing multi-talent Cheryl Crow. Should she change her mind on her farewell tour and still not leave the stage of rock and pop, she would certainly continue to be welcome to her fans.
