Delta Piano Trio
Unadulteratedand uncompromising musicality coupled with exceptional interpretive depth characterize the playing of the Delta Piano Trio, founded in Salzburg in 2013 by the three Dutch musicians Gerard Spronk, Irene Enzlin and Vera Kooper.

Numerous prizes and awards underline the trio’s reputation, including first prizes at the international chamber music competitions Stasys Vainiunas in Lithuania, Salieri-Zinetti in Italy, Orlando in the Netherlands, at the Orpheus chamber music competition in Switzerland and, in particular, the highly endowed Kersjes Prijs, the most important chamber music prize in the Netherlands, awarded in December 2020.

The Delta Piano Trio has toured Europe, Russia, Israel, China, South Korea, Indonesia, and the United States, and has performed in concert halls such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the National Center of Performing Arts in Beijing, the Gang Dong Art Center in Seoul, St. Johns Smith Square in London, and the Jerusalem Music Center.

The trio’s debut CD of piano trios by Taneyev and Borodin was released by Naxos. The second CD with works by Lera Auerbach and Dmitri Shostakovich, produced by the American label Odradek Records, received outstanding reviews. Special artistic highlights of the past seasons included joint concerts with Nobuko Imai, the commission of a trio by Swiss composer Valentin Villard through the Orpheus Competition, the performance of Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with the Basel Chamber Orchestra, and a residency at the West Cork Chamber Music Festival.

In a world of globalised unity, the trio stands out for its personal sound, dedication and natural power. The playing is honest, pristine and passionate, fusing three strong personalities into one musical entity. The three approach chamber music as a form of communication, exchange of ideas and a shared path of reflection, discovery and evolution. With the aim of shaping its own path, the Delta Piano Trio has a versatile and personal choice of repertoire that spans the entire spectrum of piano trio literature and works closely with, among others, the Russian-American composer Lera Auerbach

The trio completed its studies in Salzburg, Paris and Basel with Wolfgang Redik (Vienna Piano Trio), Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartet), Anton Kernjak and with Trio Wanderer.
