Andrew Haveron
British violinist Andrew Haveron makes his Royal Opera debut in the 2019/20 Season as the Guest Concert Master for La traviata and La bohème.

Haveron studied at the Purcell School and the Royal College of Music. He has performed as a soloist under conductors including Belohlávek, Colin Davis, Norrington, Skrowachewski and John Wilson. His 2015 performance of Walton’s Violin Concerto with the Sydney Symphony Orchestras was nominated for a Helpmann Award. He was leader of the Brodsky Quartet 1999–2007, performing a repertory of some 300 works, including contemporary commissions, and participating in projects with artists including Elvis Costello, Björk, Paul McCartney and Sting. Haveron’s recordings with the quartet won more than fifteen awards, including the Diapason d’Or and Choc du Monde. Haveron has also appeared as a chamber musician with the Nash and Hebrides ensembles, the Logos Chamber Group and Ensemble Q and with Kathy Selby. He has toured Australia in recital with the pianists Anna Goldsworthy, Piers Lane and Simon Tedeschi.

Haveron is the former concert master of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and former joint concert master of the Philharmonia. He has also led the Wolrd Orchestra for Peace at the requests of Valery Gergiev and Donald Runnicles, and been leader of the John Wilson Orchestra since its inception. In 2013 Haveron became concert master of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Alongside his duties there he has also recently performed with the London Symphony Orchestra under Rattle. Haveron holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Kent for his services to music. He plays on a 1757 violin made by G.B. Guadagnini, generously on loan to the Sydney Symphony Orchestra from Vicki Olsson for his use.
