Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century & Alexander Janiczek

Prof. Alexander Janiczek
was born in Salzburg into a musical Polish-Czech family, and began his musical training at an early age with Helmuth Zehetmair at what was then the Mozarteum. He attended masterclasses with Max Rostal, Nathan Milstein, Ruggiero Ricci, and Dorothy DeLay. Subsequently, he developed a close collaboration with his mentor, Sándor Végh, who appointed him as concertmaster of Camerata Salzburg. From the very beginning, Janiczek also regularly conducted this orchestra. Since then, Janiczek has been guest conducting with all kinds of important chamber music orchestras in Europe. As a chamber musician he has performed with Joshua Bell, Thomas Adès, Christian Zacharias, and Mitsuko Uchida, among others, and he forms a regular duo with LLyr Williams. Alexander Janiczek plays the ex-'Sorkin' Giuseppe del Gesù Guarner (Cremona, 1731), made available to him by the Oesterreichische Nationalbank.
