Federico Bagnasco
(Genoa 1979) graduated in double bass with the highest marks and praise at the N. Paganini Conservatory of Genoa, and then succeeded with important soloists and masters of this instrument. He also studied composition, improvisation and historical informed performance in seminars and masterclasses.

As a performer he worked with important Italian orchestras, even as a principal doublebass, and collaborates with several Italian baroque ensemble, attending numerous important exhibitions in Italy and abroad, chamber music and choral music.

His musical experiences also pass through jazz, tango, medieval and renaissance music, progressive rock, songwriting, movie or prose drama, television broadcasts, folk music and free improvisation, with important collaborations.

He’s a member of Eutopia Ensemble, dedicated to contemporary music and the ‘900, collaborating with several composers. He performs many recital, in solo or with live electronics, performing also first executions of several solo instrument tracks, dedicated to him.

He has about fifty recordings (for important labels such as Sony Classical, Amadeus, CPO, Stradivarius, Avie, Brilliant classics, Ricercar, Tactus, Bongiovanni …). In 2009 he recorded for SuonoSonda his own version of Solo (1966) by K. Stockhausen. In 2014 he recorded Le Trame del Legno, original compositions for double bass and electronic manipulation, with great criticism. As a composer and arranger he has worked for the theater of prose and in various record production of songwriters.

He is currently teaching double bass at the “Cavour” high school in Turin.
