As the youngest competitor, he won the III International Piano Competition Umberto Micheli at the age of sixteen, in Teatro alla Scala in Milan (Italy), playing a diverse repertoire, including pieces from baroque to contemporary music. He was also awarded a Special Prize by the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, for his interpretation of Ravel´s Concerto in G Major in the final round.

From this moment on, he has been invited to perform as a soloist with prestigious orchestras, as well as to offer recitals in America, Europe and Asia.

He has performed in Herkulessaal (Munich), Radio France (París), Wigmore Hall (Londres), Jordan Hall (Boston), Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (Roma), Musikverein (Vienna), Hamarikyu Asahi Hall (Tokyo), Teatro Real, Auditorio Nacional de Música (Madrid), Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires). As well, as a soloist with prestigious orchestras, including the Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg, Orquesta Sinfónica de Radio Televisión Española, London Chamber Pleyers, Orquesta Estable del Teatro Real, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Youth Orchestra of the Americas, Orquesta Sinfónica de la Ciudad de Oviedo, Orquestra Nacional do Porto, Orquestra do Norte (Portugal), Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional (Argentina), Orquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires, Orchestra Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (Rome), Filarmonica della Scala di Milano (Milan), among others.

He has been under the baton of outstanding Maestros, such as Charles Dutoit, Antonio Pappano, Benjamin Zander, Michael Zilm, Terje Mikkelsen, Arthur Fagen, Martin Sieghart, Christopher Wilkins, David Murphy, Alejo Pérez, George Pehlivanian, Franz-Paul Decker, Jorge Rotter, Juan Pablo Izquierdo, Pedro I. Calderón, Adrian Leaper, Günter Neuhold, Michael Seal Enrique Arturo Diemecke, Jeef Manookian, Marzio Conti, among others.

In addition to covering the classical repertoire, he seeks to spread and promote contemporary music, sometimes doing world-class premieres. These concerts include recitals offered for Radio France (Paris), Musicadhoy (Barcelona), Awards “Tomas Luis de Victoria” (Madrid) and electroacoustic concerts for CDMC (Madrid) in the seasons 06/07 and 08/09, Festival Alicante 08, CETC (Buenos Aires) 2009 and 2010, Clásica x Cotemporáneos (Madrid) 2014. He has collaborated with great artists of our time: Maestros Karlheinz Stockhausen, Pierre Boulez, Mauricio Kagel, Richard Dubugnon, Guillaume Connesson, Atsuhiko Gondai, Herbert Willi, Alberto Bernal, Alberto Posadas, Marlos Nobre, Joan Guinjoan, Antón García Abril, Luis de Pablo, Dino Saluzzi, Miguel Farías, among others. He was dedicated works by Maestros Gabriel Senanes, Fabián Panisello, Esteban Benzecry and Tomás Marco.

As for his studies, he has especially devoted himself to Beethoven´s work with Maestro Maurizio Pollini, in Italy – at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana – and in his master-classes en Lucerne Festival – Switzerland-, as well as with Maestro Charles Rosen, at the University of Alcalá.

In 2010 he made his debut in the dual role of director and pianist with Concertos No. 9 (Jenamy) and No. 11 by Mozart, with the Orchestra Estación de Buenos Aires, at the opening of the “Musical Week Llao Llao”, with the presence of prominent figures in art and culture. “La Nación” newspaper, described the performance as “excellent”, saying: “Horacio Lavandera gave an example of incomparable talent, not only due to his exceptional technical mastery at the keyboard, but also for his wisdom at his interpretation“. He repeated the experience in 2013 and 2014 with “Camerata Bariloche” Orchestra, touring Argentina nationwide and in Montevideo, Uruguay.

In 2012 he created the open series “Evenings of Science and Music”, which was organized together with the argentine National Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, initiative comprising a series of concerts of piano and electronics, with the participation of guest top argentine scientists, such as Dr. Adrián Paenza, mathematician; Dr. Pablo Amster, mathematician; Dr. Alberto Rojo, physicist and composer; Dr. Daniel de Florian, physicist; and Dr. Alejandro Gangui, astrophysicist.

Has been awarded, among others, the V° Biennial Youth National Competition, organized by Festivales Musicales and Shell CAPSA. He has been recognized as “Best Instrumental Soloist” by the Association of Critics of Music of Argentina. German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen awarded him for his interpretation of his work. Konex Foundation distinguished him as one of the foremost pianists of last decade. He won the series “Primer Palau” in Barcelona, and was honored with the “Bicentennial Medal” by the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, being the youngest personality to receive this distinction. He was also declared “Guest of Honor” by the Government of the Province of Mendoza, for his talent and experience. In 2011 he was praised by DAIA for his brilliant career. He was distinguished with “Antonio Devoto” award, in recognition for his praiseworthy career, by Rotary Club Villa Devoto. He was honored in recognition of his outstanding work and by culture, by the authorities of the Comuna 11, the Government of the City of Buenos Aires. It is recognized as a “Steinway Artist” by signing Steinway and Sons pianos. In 2013 Gardel Prize awarded for “Best Classical Music Album” for his album “Chopin”. In 2014 he received the title of “Honorary Professor” at the Universidad Nacional de Rosario.

His performances have been broadcasted on radio and television in various countries. He has seven musical productions: “Debut” (2001), sponsored by Shell CAPSA, “Youth Orchestra of the Americas” (2002) by Deutsche Bank, “Three Bs”(2005), by Supervielle Bank, “Live in Japan“ , “Spanish composers of the generation of 51“ (2007), by the Community of Madrid and CD + DVD “Argentine Composers” (2009) recorded by Sony Music /Calle Angosta and “Chopin” (2012), produced and edited by EPSA Music. In 2014, he was featured in the film “Zonda”, by world known Spanish filmmaker Carlos Saura.
