Daniel Oyarzabal
Born in Vitoria (Spain). Trained at the University of Music and performing Arts in Vienna under Professor Thomas Schmögner, specialising in the organ, harpsichord and historic instruments, later continuing to develop his skills in a post-graduate study with Professor Jos van der Kooy in organ in addition to receiving a diploma in harpsichord studies (class of Patrick Ayrton) at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. He has taken part in master-classes given by such acclaimed musicians as Pierre Hantaö, Jacques Ogg, Michael Posch, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Michael Radulescu, Hans Fagius and Olivier Latry.

Oyarzabal undertook an intensive course in the music of Johann Sebastian Bach under Professor Pieter van Dijk at the Amsterdam Conservatoire. In 1991 the musician was awarded the Special Press Prize at the National Exhibition for Young Performers in Ibiza (Spain). In 1998 Oyarzabal won first prize in improvisation at the International Competition in Rome, and in 2002 he became the only Spanish organist ever to receive an award at the prestigious Nineteenth International Organ Competition in Nijmegen (The Netherlands).

Daniel Oyarzabal regularly takes part in various international festivals in Europe and in Japan, performing both recitals and together with orchestras. Among his most recent projects his performances of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Goldberg Variations in towns throughout Spain, Italy and Austria deserve special attention.

Daniel Oyarzabal is the Principal Organist at the German Church in Madrid and Organist with the Orquesta Nacional de España.
