Sean Fyfe
is a jazz pianist, born in Victoria BC and currently living in New York. He began playing piano at age 5 and saw rapid progress upon entry to high school, when he started performing at the local jazz club. Sean attended McGill University for his undergraduate degree, and Manhattan School of Music for his graduate degree. Sean studied under pianist Andre White at McGill, and Jeremy Manasia at Manhattan School of Music, both of whom remain major influences on his playing. Sean’s playing style draws heavily on pianists Bill Evans, Wynton Kelly, Cedar Walton and Bud Powell and is rooted in the tradition of bebop. He has performed with many jazz notables including John Merrill, Joseph Lepore, James Zoller, Jon Beshay and Sam Kirmayer.
