Having received numerous awards and honours, Stéphane Tétreault was also selected as a laureate of the 2015-2016 Classe d’Excellence de violoncelle de Gautier Capuçon at the Fondation Louis Vuitton and received the 2015 Women’s Musical Club of Toronto Career Development Award. He was the very first recipient of the Fernand-Lindsay Career Award as well as the laureate of the 2013 Choquette-Symcox Award from the Jeunesses Musicales du Canada. First Prize Winner at the 2007 Montreal Symphony Orchestra Standard Life-OSM Competition, he was named Révélation Radio-Canada in classical music, was chosen as Personality of the Week in La Presse newspaper in 2012, and received the Opus Award for New Artist of the Year in 2013.

Chosen as the fi rst ever Soloist-in-Residence of the Orchestre Métropolitain, Stéphane performed alongside Yannick Nézet-Séguin during the 2014-2015 season. In 2016, he made his debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Nézet-Séguin and performed at the prestigious Gstaad Menuhin Festival in Switzerland. During the 2017-18 season, he will take part in the Orchestre Métropolitain’s fi rst European tour and make his debut with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Stéphane has performed with violinist and conductor Maxim Vengerov and pianist Alexandre Tharaud and has participated in a number of masterclasses, notably with cellists Gautier Capuçon and Frans Helmerson. He has worked with conductors Michael Tilson Thomas, Kent Nagano, Paul McCreesh, Julian Kuerti, Timothy Vernon, James Feddeck, amongst many others.

This is the third album in which Stéphane Tétreault participates as a soloist; the two previous releases were nominated as the “Best Classical Album of the Year” at the ADISQ Gala. Stéphane Tétreault was a student of the late cellist and conductor Yuli Turovsky for more than 10 years. He holds a Master’s Degree in Music Performance from the University of Montreal.

Stéphane Tétreault plays on the 1707 “Countess of Stainlein, Ex-Paganini” Stradivarius cello, generously loaned to him by Mrs. Jacqueline Desmarais.

Marie-Ève Scarfone
A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and Université de Montréal, Marie-Ève Scarfone leads a very successful career as a pianist in Canada and abroad. She has performed throughout North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. As a recitalist and chamber musician, she has been invited to numerous festivals, such as The Song Continues (Carnegie Hall, New York), Centro Histórico (Mexico), Printemps Musical de Silly (Belgium), Debut Atlantic, the Domaine Forget International Festival and the OSM Classical Spree, to name a few.

In June 2014, she performed at the Flâneries musicales de Reims alongside her accomplice, Stéphane Tétreault, in a concert broadcast on the popular site Medici.tv. Very active on the opera stages, Marie-Ève Scarfone is a rehearsal pianist for the Opéra de Montréal and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, and is choir master for McGill University and the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal. She is also the official pianist of the Montreal International Music Competition and the OSM Standard Life Competition.

In July 2014, she became musical director for Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges (The Child and the Enchantments) at the Opéra de Québec. She was the winner of the piano prize of the Marilyn Horne Foundation Song Competition and the Sir Ernest MacMillan Memorial Foundation. The Opéra de Montréal has rewarded her talent on numerous occasions throughout her training at the Atelier Lyrique (award of excellence and directors’ award). Marie-Ève Scarfone is a member of the Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal Orchestra, and is also very active as an orchestra musician in various ensembles.
