On his new album „Waiting“ the German-Iranian guitarist Rouzbeh Asgarian presents a fresh and lively mixture of jazz, rock, pop and funk elements combined with oriental tunes and European avant-garde. He demonstrates it with quite complex structures but without any whiff of academic snobbery. The extraordinary, almost exotic style of music combines such rare beats like the 19/4 beat, seemingly contradicting opposites like heavily distorted guitar and even bass sounds with powerful drum grooves and cool trumpet improvisations. The native Iranian Rouzbeh Asgarian has brought all this harmoniously to a very personal style which pleases also the sophisticated audience.
