Info for AUDIO VERTIGO

Elbow return in March with their tenth studio album, ‘AUDIO VERTIGO.’ Recorded throughout 2023 at the band’s home studios, Migration Studios in Gloucestershire, The Dairy in London and mixed at the band’s facility at Blueprint Studios, Salford, the album marks a significant step change for the group following 2021’s ‘Flying Dream 1’.

What is striking is the reduction and earthiness that often comes to the fore, centred around the once again irresistible vocals of Guy Garvey. Conspicuous references to post-rock with Mark Potter's characteristic guitar acting, which also stands in the foreground, and catchy basslines and shuffling to powerful drums as a backbone that often stoically pulls ellipses in repetitions. Dynamic songwriting with a constant potential for outbursts and a feeling of freedom. A tight, exciting album that is rockier than the last few releases, occasionally using keyboards, horns (e.g. on the excellent "Lovers Leap") and a gospel choir and essentially lives from the contrast between the unruly guitar and the embracing vocals.

In the words of lead singer and lyricist Guy Garvey, ‘AUDIO VERTIGO’ was built from ‘gnarly, seedy grooves created by us playing together in garagey rooms’ and is both more direct and sonically varied by purpose that its predecessor.

"Audio Vertigo" was recorded in 2023 at Migration Studios in Gloucestershire and Dairy Studios in London and mixed at Blueprint Studios in Salford.
