Info for Heartbeat Highway

CANNONS alternate between flashes of gauzy introspection, glitter-drenched dancefloor ecstasy, and gritty sensuality. The Los Angeles trio—Michelle Joy [vocals], Ryan Clapham [lead guitar], and Paul Davis [drums keys]—elevate alternative / electro-pop to a neon stratosphere with nocturnal production and a visual sensibility equally suited to Studio 54 or summer festival season. Thus far, the band has honed this signature style over the course of three albums, namely Night Drive [2017], Shadows [2019], and Fever Dream [2022]. Along the way, “Fire For You” reached RIAA gold status, generated nearly a quarter-of-a-billion streams, topped Alternative Radio, and landed massive syncs on the likes of NETFLIX’s Never Have I Ever, American Horror Story, and more. CANNONS earned critical acclaim from The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, FLAUNT, and Consequence of Sound while YouTube touted them among 2021’s “Artists on the Rise.” Emerging as a live force, they’ve headlined countless packed shows in addition to lighting up festivals such as Coachella, Lollapalooza, Life Is Beautiful, Outside Lands, and Electric Forest, to name a few. Evolving yet again, CANNONS kickstart another era with the sunny, sassy, and sexy funkified strut of their 2023 single “Loving You” and much more to come.

A sold-out crowd welcomed Cannons on their Heartbeat Highway Tour to the HiFi Annex on Saturday night. The indie pop band from LA has been around since 2013 and is about to release their fourth studio album, Heartbeat Highway shortly (still no official release date, according to the band). Cannons skyrocketed to success with their number one hit, “Fire for You,” from their sophomore album Shadows. They followed that up with another smash hit, “Bad Dreams” from their 2019 release Fever Dream. Their latest album will feature the single “Loving You,” which also reached number one on the alternative charts. The 10 o’clock curfew made for an early start for the show. The dynamic duo Jane Leo from Austin got things started a little after 6 p.m. as the crowd was filing in. They released their self-titled first album in February and their most recent single, “Wow,” in August. Next up was Portland base duo New Constellations. They have a fresh new electropop single and video, “Hot Blooded,” worth checking out. The stage was set for Cannons as the packed house welcomed them heartily. They opened with “Shadows” and continued with a mix of songs, including three new yet released as well as their hits from their first three studio albums. They took a short break and returned with two encore songs, ending with “Evening Star” from their Spells EP.

Cannons
are an American indie pop band formed in 2013 in Los Angeles. The band consists of lead vocalist Michelle Joy, guitarist Ryan Clapham, and keyboardist and bassist Paul Davis.

Ryan Clapham and Paul Davis, who have been friends since childhood, began composing music together in their teenage years. In 2013, after posting an advertisement on the website Craigslist seeking a singer for their musical project, Clapham and Davis connected with Joy, who was thereafter recruited as Cannons' frontwoman.

Cannons issued their first EP Up All Night in 2014. The band then released their debut album Night Drive in 2017, as well as a second EP, In a Heartbeat, the following year. Shadows, Cannons' second album, was released in 2019 by AntiFragile Music. "Fire for You", the first single from Shadows, gained significant commercial traction after being featured in a 2020 episode of the comedy-drama TV series Never Have I Ever. The band subsequently signed to Columbia Records. In early 2021, "Fire for You" reached number one on the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart. Fever Dream, the band's third album, will be released in March 2022.

This album contains no booklet.
