Info for Beethoven: Eroica Variations, Piano Sonata No. 30 & 6 Bagatelles

More and more young German pianist Forian Glemser is establishing himself in concert life. Invitations to piano recitals and appearances with orchestras took him to almost all renowned concert halls in Germany, including Konzerthaus Berlin, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Herkulessaal Munich, and others, as well as in other European countries in halls such as Wigmore Hall in London, Stefaniensaal in Graz, and the Brucknerhaus in Linz. For his debut with OehmsClassics, he wanted a pure Beethoven program that can hardly be more demanding. He has included the Eroica-Variationen Op. 35, the Sonate No. 30 Op. 109, and Sechs Bagatellen Op. 126- an impressive program for any career, much less that of such a young performer.

Florian Glemser, piano

Florian Glemser
Born into a musical family, he received his first piano lessons from his mother at the age of three. Only seven years later, he was selected to continue his musical training with his father Bernd Glemser through a scholarship system of Würzburg University of Music to support highly gifted pupils or students. He made his concert debut at the age of seven, and his orchestral debut with the Würzburg Philharmonic Orchestra in 2007 as the soloist in George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue”. This was a most convenient coincidence, as Florian Glemser, an enthusiastic jazz fan, also made a name for himself as a jazz pianist in his youth. He won the Soloist Prize of the Würzburg Jazz Initiative and toured throughout Europe with Big Band.

At the beginning of his studies, he finally opted for a purely classical career and had the opportunity to win numerous international prizes as a soloist; he was granted scholarships by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, the Hans and Eugenia Jütting Foundation in Stendal, and the German Foundation for Musical Life.

Chamber music and song accompaniment have a lasting effect on Glemser’s artistic self-conception and play an important role in his concert activity. He regularly plays in piano duos together with his wife Franziska Glemser. His chamber music activity in various formations led him to winning competitions, to radio live recordings, and to concerts at home and abroad.

The many-sidedness of his interests is also reflected in the breadth of his repertoire. He has, however, developed a special inner relationship with composers Johann Sebastian Bach and Robert Schumann. So, his debut CD “Schumann” (Ars Production), released in 2017, is dedicated to Robert Schumann, in which he embarks on an interdisciplinary journey of discovery investigating Schumann’s dialogue between literature and music. The recording received excellent reviews by several leading German media and the musical specialised press (inter alia, DER SPIEGEL, Tagesspiegel, Crescendo).

Florian Glemser has also been teaching since his youth. His educational activity has played an important role in his life for 15 years. The result of this was his appointment in 2016 as a full-time lecturer at the Vocational School of Music in Dinkelsbühl, aged only 25, where he has been preparing aspirants for higher education since then.
