Caution: hidden gem! To commemorate the recent passing of Grace Bumbry, we have exhumed from our archives this very rare recital of German lieder published in 1976, whose circulation remained quite limited at its time, and which were never re-issued as a physical medium.
The legendary mezzo-soprano reveals all her talent as a liedersängerin in this bouquet of masterpieces by Schubert and Schumann (Widmung, Die Forelle, Gretchen am Spinnrade…), in perfect mutual understanding with accompanist Geoffrey Parsons, a specialist of this repertoire. This album newly remastered also includes a version of Ich grolle nicht that was not included in the original album and is therefore an absolute premiere!
