Info for Motel Bamako

Malian-French singer Inna Modja returns to her roots with her third album, Motel Bamako. Inspired by Damon Albarn’s Africa Express, she collaborates here with Stephen Budd (its co-founder) and Krazy Baldhead (of the Ed Banger label). Joined by quality guests like Oxmo Puccino, Cheick Tidiane Seck, Oumou Sangaré, and The Noisettes, Motel Bamako is a warm opus, a road trip for world citizen Inna Modja, who shares her life between Paris, New York and London.

Mali is omnipresent on this album. The powerful „Tombouctou“, a story about the life of women in Mali, especially in the northern parts of the eponymous city and were torn by war in the recent years, is also a prayer for peace in her homeland.

Inna Modja
has feline eyes and a velvety voice full of soul. Inna was born in Bamako in Mali, and quickly developed a lively and playful temperament, so that she could fit in among her 6 siblings. Her first album, 'Everyday Is A New World' came out in 2009 and Inna Modja quickly became a revelation at the crossroads of pop, soul and folk music. 'Love Revolution' is less acoustic than the previous, and uncovers a new dimension of the singer. Inna Modja opens a colourful range of musical cravings that are crazy and impressive, powerful and instinctive, with orchestral arrangements and the intimate sound of piano and guitar. 'Love Revolution' will warm your spirit and your soul and is sometimes reminiscent of Morcheeba and Macy Gray.

This album contains no booklet.
