Iakovos Symeonidis
is a jazz guitarist from Athens, Greece living and performing in Berlin, Germany.

Since relocating to Berlin in 2019, he has been performing with local musicians at various clubs while continuing to perform regularly in Greece.

My name is Iakovos 'Jakob' Symeonidis and I am a jazz guitarist from Athens, Greece based in Berlin, Germany.

I started the Jako Organ Trio project in 2016 with the help of the renowned Greek organ and piano player George Kontrafouris. Together with us we have Gary Kerkezou on drums, a gifted drummer making her first steps in the New York Jazz scene.

The band is influenced by the legendary jazz organ trios and artists like Jimmy Smith, Larry Young, Charles Earland ,Kenny Burrell, Grant Green, Wes Montgomery, Curtis Mayfield, James Brown and Prince.

We play a mixture of my own original compositions as well as arrangements from jazz compositions, tunes from the American Songbook, and arrangements from Motown and Soul.

Recently, Iakovos was one of the Semi-Finalists of the international Smietana Guitar Competition (Nov. 2021).
