Mozart’s Violin Concertos need little introduction and are some of his most well-known and best-loved works. Despite being written when the composer was just 19 years old, they feature Mozart at his elegant, witty and beguilingly changeable best. Handel and Haydn Society with their inspirational Concertmaster, Aisslinn Nosky, bring Mozart’s musical magic to life in these live recordings from Boston’s glorious Symphony Hall.

Hailed as “superb” by The New York Times, Canadian violinist Aisslinn Nosky has a reputation for being one of the most dynamic and versatile violinists of her generation. As concertmaster of the Handel and Haydn Society she appears on a number of the ensemble’s recordings for CORO. With the Eybler Quartet she has also released two albums of Beethoven String Quartets for the label.

Handel and Haydn Society is America's oldest continuously operating arts organisation. Harry Christophers tenure as Artistic Director from 2008 –2022 saw the Society release 17 recordings on CORO including Haydn’s Creation, all six of his ‘Paris’ Symphonies, Mozart’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah, and a Christmas album - ‘Joy to the World’ - celebrating America’s favourite festive tunes.

A unique and dynamic violinist, Aisslinn Nosky has captivated audiences around the world with her innovative interpretations and impeccable technique. Her fierce passion for early music and skill as a soloist, director, and conductor has generated robust appreciation by press and audiences alike. Hailed as “superb” by The New York Times and “a fearsomely powerful musician” by The Toronto Star, widespread demand for Aisslinn continues to grow.

In addition to her role as Concertmaster of the Handel and Haydn Society of Boston, Aisslinn has also collaborated with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Holland Baroque, and the Charlotte Symphony. She was a dedicated member of Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra from 2005 to 2016 and served as Principal Guest Conductor of the Niagara Symphony from 2016 to 2019.

Aisslinn is a founding member of the Eybler Quartet, who explore repertoire from the early quartet literature on period instruments. Their most recent recording features Beethoven’s Op. 18 string quartets and was released in 2018 (CORO). Gramophone Magazine mused, “they make no bones about treating Beethoven as a radical. ...This set might delight you or it might infuriate you: either way, I suspect, Beethoven would have been more than happy.” With the Eybler Quartet, Aisslinn serves on the faculty of EQ: Evolution of the String Quartet at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. EQ is an intensive summer course for emerging artists which celebrates the lineage of the string quartet, both as a historical genre and as a freshly invigorated practice in the 21st century.

Aisslinn has recorded the complete Haydn violin concertos with the Handel and Haydn Society and most recently, Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante (CORO) with violist Max Mandel. Born in Canada, she began playing violin at age three and made her solo debut with the CBC Vancouver Orchestra at age eight.

Max Mandel
enjoys a varied and acclaimed career as a chamber musician, soloist, orchestral musician and speaker. He is co-principal viola of The Orchestra of The Age of Enlightenment. He is also a member of the trailblazing ensemble FLUX Quartet. He has appeared as guest principal viola with The Chamber Orchestra of Europe, The Australian Chamber Orchestra, The Scottish Chamber Orchestra, The Academy of Ancient Music, The Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, Camerata Bern, and the Handel & Haydn Society, among others. His most recent record with FLUX Quartet is Michael Hersch: Images From A Closed Ward. Max's newest venture is a lecture series, Chamber Talk. He is a member of the music education outreach group ClassNotes and also teaches chamber music at Le Domaine Forget summer festival in Quebec. Born and raised in Toronto, he divides his time between New York and London.
