Info for Cristal Medium Blue
Following his critically acclaimed debut album, Sonic Poems – Lewis OfMan unveils his new project, Cristal Medium Blue. The genesis of this new project, largely infused by the artist's travels, took place on the American road during his latest tour, which included a stop at Coachella. The artist is accompanied on this project by singular performers: Empress Of, Camille Jansen, Sofie Royer, Gabriela Richardson and Alaska Reid.
If you look at Cristal Medium Blue, Lewis OfMan's second album, the development since the debut is almost tangible. On the one hand, this applies to his forward-looking alternative pop, which combines acoustic and electric guitars with lively vocals and samples sent from heaven. On the other hand, also for much more tangible things.
His beard, for example: “Yes, I have one now,” he laughs. “During the time I made this album I had some of the best moments of my life. What's happening right now is crazy. Sometimes I feel like I'm in a spaceship traveling somewhere with my friends. And the closer we get to this unknown new place, the more beautiful it becomes. I used to shave every two days, but now I let my beard grow. It's like you suddenly decide to be an adult and listen to what your body tells you. I accept: life”.
As the story goes, French-born Lewis OfMan turned the family iPad into a recording studio at the tender age of eleven, delving into the intricacies of GarageBand. Then in 2017, in his early twenties, the time had come and Lewis OfMan introduced himself to the world with the “Yo Bene” EP. Five years later, his debut album Sonic Poems was released, which earned him his first widespread praise from the press.
He entered the scene as a strange outsider who soon found himself working with pop stars like Carly Rae Jepsen and fashion houses like Gucci, J Weston and Nike. The time on tour around the globe took him to the USA for the first time, where he first played with YELLE, then a coast-to-coast tour with Rejjie Snow, and then finally took the stage at Coachella 2023.
It was a series of profound personal experiences that ultimately led to the creation of the new album Cristal Medium Blue. After months of intensive touring, OfMan separated from his partner in the summer of 2022. He subsequently spent some time with his parents in Greece. He turned to musical favorites of his teenage years: Santana, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. OfMan also deals with psychedelic rock during this phase. With a nylon acoustic guitar he borrowed from a friend and an Ensoniq sampler on the table, he began sketching songs while staring at the Mediterranean. OfMan adds: “When you listen to this album, I want you to dream. I hope you listen to the songs and they bring back the best moments when you felt something special inside you. I want you to feel like you're living a dream."
Lewis OfMan
Lewis Delhomme
started playing the drums when he was 11 years old (2010) which developed into a wider musical passion by quickly spreading to mastering the guitar and piano/keyboards. One year later, 2011, he started to play with a band as a drummer, and he bought his first keyboard (which is on the cover of the EP “Yo Bene”). He started to make his own compositions as Lewis OfMan on Garageband’s iPad application.
These first compositions were self-released as an EP called Disconsolate which he made available on Bandcamp in September 2014. Moving on to try more professional means of making music, Lewis started to make his solo 16th April 2015. From this point, with an EPcompositions on his computer but where possible using or sampling his instruments.
Lewis played his first public concert at a fashion show for AFTERHOMEWORK, a Paris-based fashion brand. Then, he started up to make remixes for The Pirouettes, Hypnolove, Poom, Housse de Racket, Keziah Jones, Alt-J.
On the 15th of March 2017, Lewis Delhomme released his second EP, Yo Bene, full of his musical maturity.
On February 2017, he has produced 6 tracks on the latest album of Rejjie Snow, “Dear Annie”. The release of these tracks were followed by a mix of solo and support dates (French group Yelle) for a North American tours, and on the French leg of the EU tour with Rejjie Snow.
Lewis is in demand by tastemakers, playing shows for APC (Paris/London), Colette (Paris), collaboration with Gucci, and Kitsuné (Appearing on Kitsuné Parisien #4), and is currently endorsed by Nike.
Around writing his own music he has played drums live and produced tracks for The Pirouettes (Tu peux compter sur moi), co-produced a track for Fakear (Vision), produced tracks for the last release album released by Rejjie Snow (Rainbows / Mon Amour / Room 27 / Désolé / LMFAO / Bye Polar ) produced all (but one) of the tracks for the project Vendredi Sur Mer, as well as the production arm for a young French hip hop act called Emile.
His one man (sometimes accompanied by female vocalist Milena Leblanc) show has been touring French festivals such as We Love Green, Cabourg Mon Amour, and Pitchfork Festival Paris.
