Info for Berg: Violin & Chamber Concertos (Remastered)

French violinist Christin Ferras performs the Violin and Chamber Concertos of the romantic and lyrical master composer of the "Second Viennese School", Alban Berg, alongisde the Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire led by the great Georges Prêtre.

The Violin Concerto, which was written in 1935 (the score is dated 11 August 1935), is probably Berg's best-known and most frequently performed instrumental piece, in which the composer sought to reconcile diatonicism and dodecaphony. Berg composed it on a commission from Louis Krasner, and it became the last work that he completed. Krasner performed the solo part in the premiere at the Palau de la Música Catalana, Barcelona on 19 April 1936, after the composer's death.

The Kammerkonzert für Klavier und Geige mit 13 Bläsern ("Chamber Concerto for Piano and Violin with 13 Wind Instruments") was composed between 1923 and 1925. The work is scored for piano and violin soloists, accompanied by a wind ensemble of 13 players: piccolo, flute, oboe, English horn, E♭ clarinet, A clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon, contrabassoon, trumpet, two French horns, and trombone.
