Info for Lichtblicke
It is impossible to imagine the German singer-songwriter scene without Christina Lux. Since 1998, the Karlsruhe native has been releasing her albums at regular intervals and touring Germany with her music. Her album Leise Bilder was awarded the German Record Critics' Prize in 2018. She has gained a loyal fan base that has enthusiastically taken the step towards the German language that she took in 2018. For it is above all her lyrics that give her music, which playfully combines folk, jazz, world and pop elements, a great touchability.
Lichtblicke is the second German-language album and it delivers even more than the title promises. It is hopeful, colourful and deeply contemplative lyrics, embedded in sounds that make a wide sweep to underline all that needs to be heard and said. Once again, she wrote and produced this album together with her companion Oliver George (guitar, bass, drums, vocals, keys).
She herself says about the making of the album: "We were able to make good use of the time without concerts and continue writing and recording despite the strange emptiness that spread through me during the time without concerts. And Lichtblicke stands for me for all these magical moments in the midst of this madness that is raging everywhere. Most of the tracks were created in our small Luxuriant Studio in Cologne. It was unusual for me to realise songs directly as studio versions. Usually I first go on stage with new songs to let them grow. This time I didn't do that with a good part of the songs. The immediacy of the concert is unique and I love it very much. To recreate this feeling of communication and directness in the studio takes a lot more time for me. In the end, however, by working in my own studio without time pressure, I was able to work on the songs again and again and see them grow "on tape". For mixing and mastering we went back to Klaus Genuit at the Hansahausstudio in Bonn. I have been working with Klaus since the first EP in 1998 and he is a multiple Grammy winner. He is one of those sound people who, with high musicality and a fine ear, achieve a transparency and dynamic in the sound that is tremendously important for my music."
"Lichtblicke" is a modern, cool and casual jazz record that goes deep with its lyrics. A bit funky, sometimes rocky - a round thing! And who doesn't feel the longing for a ray of hope these days? For a few moments of peace and quiet, at least internally. This album could be such a little island.
