Info for Éternité
Belgian neo-classical pianist Grégoire Gerstmans releases his 2nd album ‘Éternité’ - a new chapter but with same intention, trying to capture the melody of silence Éternité is an exploration of time and its perceptions.
"Éternité is a tribute to the space between two moments, where time becomes infinite."
On this second album, the Belgian pianist continues his exploration of moments of transition, as hinted at by ‘Juste avant la nuit’, the opening track on this record, recorded on an upright piano, capturing the breath, the rhythm, the life and the moment the artist seeks to capture. Whether he is evoking the last, oh-so-precious exchanges with a departed friend (‘Ceux qui restent’), engaging in a dialogue with multi-instrumentalist Margaret Hermant (‘Bells’), or focusing on the moment when things, in one way or another, inevitably tip over (‘Somehow’), the Liège-born giant turns his meticulous exploration of our relationship with time and the present moment into a form of resistance to the frenzy of the modern world.
